Citroen c5 x7 2.0hdi rpm issue

Post by vasilus_rs »

Hi all I'm new to the forum and just got a citroen for the first time in my life. Two weeks ago I bought citroen c5 x7 2.0hdi automatic I've done full service ( oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter timing belt and pulleys + water pump) until today I didn't try to push the car hard so everything was looking OK but today I started overtaking on the motorway pushing the car after 3000rpm and it doesn't go more than 3500, it's just jumping 3000-3500 with no errors on the computer. Can you please tell me if you know what could be the reason for this? Thank you.

Mine wasn't an X7 so may not apply but when it happened to me - on rout to a Citroen rally of course - it was the MAF.
No flags, just no power and limited to 3,500 revs.
I replaced the MAF and it was fixed.
The next time it happened - not the same car - I cleaned the MAF with carb cleaner and never had any further problems.

We're not sure which engine you have, but don't forget the max power of the 163 Euro 5 is 120 KW / 3750 RPM, so allow for mileage / age and any carbon build up etc.

The problem is that it's cutting off at 3500 so automatic gearbox won't change to the next gear. And Gregor, probably there is an error after I disconnect the maf but I've been trying this on other cars and there is no problem with the rpm without maf. I will try to clean it today after work to see if there is any change. Thanks guys

Ok, also remember that Diagbox is your best friend for diagnostics, not all code readers can read all the faults, especially the manufacturer-specific codes, so you may have a fault that is not being picked up.

I have thinkdiag (next generation launch) but if you think that I can have more success reading codes with diagbox I will buy one?

I can't guarantee there is a fault of course - but usually with any engine downgrade modes, revs can be limited from anywhere between 2500 to 3000 depending on fault and engine etc.

Diagbox is used for PSA vehicles, so is the nearest you will get to a dealer-level diagnostic tool for PSA cars.

Strange after work I start the car and revving on neutral gear - no issues (going to 5000 with no problem) , wow I was more than happy but then when driving still have a bit at 4000 rpm but not that bad cause the gearbox change to the next gear

Just hold it little bit more in the problem range and those errors show up. But the car is driving fine before that rpm so could it be bad timing??

Hi, I have a non starting c5 x7 mk 111 2.2 hdi
Lovely car, fine one day NR next morning. Will start with a wiff of easy start and run but wont start again. RAC listed these codes:
P1351, pre post heating relay control circuit fault
P16A0 engine overspeed recognition
P129B turbo 2 solenoid valve exhaust
P0183 fuel temp sensorA circ high input
P2563 turbo 2 solenoid valve exhaust
P0483 cooling fan rationality check malfunction
P023E overboost pressure
Seems like lots of codes that don't really point to anything specific that would stop it starting except with a squirt of something.
Any ideas? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I'm a newbie
