407 P1471

Post by davscer »

Hi,

I have a 407 2.0Hdi with the fault codes P1471 and P1351. The P1351 is related to the Glow Plugs and a comment fault, so that’s fine. Got a lot of help from a member here (Marc). Relating to the P1471 I have changed the air doser, the doser’s electrovalve. Is there something else to check, replace or code with Diagbox? When I changed the air doser the car is much smoother with less jerking and more responsive and it’s regenerating smoothly. The regen lasts for 15 miles. Hope that’s good.

I can’t get rid of the P1471 fault. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks.

If you are getting still getting stalling or hesitation / lack of power, it may be an issue with the internal relay of the motor switching unit. There was a modification for this for this engine especially if you also had P0215 and P0245 faults at some time and stored in the memory (perhaps you can check the log).

It affected vehicles with build date 11192 to 12013 (pop your VIN up for me and I can check your build date). The resolution was to replace the switching unit. There was a technical service bulletin (B1AW0115Q0) for this if it is applicable, that you may want to check out with your dealer.

Hi Marc. Thanks for your helpful response. Yes, I am still getting stalling or hesitation / lack of power. The VIN number VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Can you please indicate where to find this internal relay of the motor switching unit or if there is a part number? Its a 2008 with the Delphi Pump. Thanks.

I've just checked your build date (11355) as 11th December 2007 and this falls within the range of the build dates (1 July 2007 to 29 September 2009) for the TSB I mentioned.

I don't have the specifics of the document or what is involved unfortunately - this is something the dealer can advise you on though as this is chargeable info. If you contact them and quote the reference I gave you, they may advise as to what it involves.

Wow Marc! So there is something wrong with it! I was so stumped. What a relief. Got no help from Peugeot Specialist. What there a recall for this? Anyways, can you get this info, and a quote? Happy to pay you and a donation for all this help.

Hi David, as per your PM, here's how to replace the engine fusebox:

You'll need a trim tool / spatula like this:

After switching off the ignition, wait 2 minutes before disconnecting the battery following the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

Unscrew: The battery fastener (C) (A quarter turn).
Unscrew: The 4 mountings (A quarter turn) ( as (D)).
Remove The engine wiring housing cover (2).
407 Engine Fuse B.PNG
Disconnect: Battery earth cable ( as (E)).
Unclip: The connectors (3) (Slave unit).
Unclip: The unit (4) ( as (F)).
Only use the hydraulic fluid (4) (At (G)).
Detach: The unit (4) ( as (H)) .
Remove: The unit (4).

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your help! I replaced the fuse box and I don’t think that the problem is solved, however, I will do the BSI Reset and see if it does the trick.

Finger crossed.

Cheers

Fault cleared!!! You wouldnt even imagine what was the cause, in fact i am a bit embarrassed! So, here it is. It was the connector of the electrovalve near the AC Compressor which had the pin's with a wide gap. So i got a screw driver and pinched the pin's closer to each other. Plugged it, went for a drive (thrashed it a bit) and boom, the fault is cleared! I must add that the fusebox still needed to be changed as it had seem better days. The jerkiness decreased but its barely noticeable. Maybe it needs to set new parameters as the air is controlled? Correct me if i am wrong. The car transformed itself to the better so far. Been a good week without the fault. Waiting for the regen to happen. I hope that during the regen there will no booms or gangs and something which destroy's it.

Well done and thanks for the update - this will be another in a few unrelated faults we have seen lately due to loose pins in electrical connectors.
