Peugeot 406 1.8 16V, confusion about fitting automatic timing belt tensioner

Hi everyone,
I want to adjust the tension of my new timing belt. I found instructions in Haynes about automatic belt tensioner but there are some parts of it that I'm not sure of.

In the following picture (red paragraph), it is said that index pointer should first be set in its maximum position.

Then, in the next page it is said that after cranking the engine, you have to set the index pointer aligned with the slot in the center.

The slot is shown in the picture and it is quite clear but I'm not sure about what is meant by maximum position.
I have specified what I guess in the following pictures.

Welcome to the world of Haynes manuals...

Pop your VIN up for me and I'll see if I can get you something more useful, as there are 2 versions of 1.8.

My VIN won't mean anything to you (because my car is in fact a facelifted Peugeot 405 (to look like 406) which was only produced in my country) but it is equipped with the latest version of 1.8 XU7JP4 LFY (models between 1999 - 2001).

I think it will be the other way around, i.e. turning the tensioner fully clockwise to get max tension on the belt. It will be obvious once you get it on the car, as one way will make the belt tight and the other won't!

I have a question my friends.
In the Haynes manual, it is said to crank the engine (by hand) 4 full revolutions for proper seating of the belt. Now, what will happen if I crank the engine 5 or 6 revolutions by accident?
