ds4 gearbox oil leak from small hole

Post by r3ynolds »

Hi, whilst changing the brake pads on my daughters ds4 I noticed a small leak and tracked it to a small hole about 5mm perfect circle inside the area arrowed in pic. it is on the roof of that section should it be there? or should there be a plug of some kind in it, or its it damaged some how? (not actually gearbox) thanks in advance.

the hole you have marked is right below the bolt on gear selector mechanism. A better diagram might be "gear selector" if there is such thing. If this is not a weep hole for a faulty gasket joint then it must be for some kind of sprung ball otherwise why would the case have this casting? I am really curious to see what it is.

heres a pic of the hole. yes Dormouse there is a bolt direct above it for engine mount. this is def where the oil is coming from as there was a trail from it when i first look.
