I nearly did that years ago when I put this up - but I stuck to the X7 as we were getting similar component failures (especially, wiper motor ECUs, Steering racks & suspension struts) amongst members which is what prompted me to put this one up, which are uncommon / rare with preceding models.

Just had my passenger window regulator go now - I didn't include a separate item on the component list, but that's both front ones that went on mine. First was replaced (compete original motor / regulator kit) by Citroen at over £500 cost and now the passenger one! So another job to do this month.

I bought an 08 Estate 3 yrs ago and have had to replace driver side window regulator (great advice from you guys), steering rack, a/c compressor and nearside window wiper motor. Not too bad for a 10 yr car but still put £1000 on the purchase price.

Had a really weird one on my C5 just before Christmas - the fuel cooler in the return pipe to the tank sprung a leak.
If you've never seen one it looks like a small version of what you'd see on the back of a fridge!
And of course it's a dealer only part, though my local indy. got one within 48 hours.

Hi there,
I bought a second-hand C5 X7 with 80000 kilos on the clock (LHD I live in Brittany!).
It is a 1.6 turbo petrol with 6 speed auto box, I don't do "oil engines" sorry, even La Range is a 3.9 petrol V8 (16 MPG regardless).
My previous C5s were both 3 litre petrol V6 auto.
Now the faults on the X7.....
First fault was the passenger side heater control died, still not fixed it.
Couple of weeks ago I got a pretty engine picture and a "Repair needed" notification.
Getting a bit long in the tooth to decipher fault codes, I started work as an apprentice at Morris Commercial in Birmingham in 1961, the other vehicle; La Range, only has two ECUs ( Injection and ABS) everything else I can cope with!!!
The timing chain was loose - it had stretched, never seen it before said my local main dealer, i am 1200€ worse off!
Otherwise it has done 2 lovely years and another 15000kms.

Marc, I don't know how the poll software works as I have not played with it but is it possible to add another couple of columns to your poll for MK1 and Mk2 C5's so that we can actually see the differences as time moved on?

Not really Mick, it doesn't allow for multiple recording. I was going to do one for the earlier models - but never got round to it and by the time I did, thought there was little point with there being fewer and fewer owners with them here now. I created the X7 Poll initially because of the unusual number of rack failures that were becoming apparent and then struts....

This list is more and more "blue" checked on my display! It must of been some feast for drunk workers when they made my C5x7... worst car ever had regarding faults and errors.

Only have my 2012 X7 for 2 months, bought at auction.

Drove like a pig to my horror upon collection, largely fixed by a replacement lower rear engine mount which was completely worn out no doubt due to the dual mass flywheel gear change stresses.

I also replaced the battery but still getting the economy mode and sat nav/radio switches on/off several times after a cold start.

The flywheel, clutch and timing belt was changed by a previous owner.
