This one is identical to the one I owned in the 80's and thorougly enjoyed even though I sold it for £2200. This one made £10,000.00

Had Ford not made the Edsel then this may have been a contender for their ugliest car:

No, no, no. The Corsair was a beautiful looking car. I know it was just a reskinned Cortina but it always looked so much better to my eyes. Later models also had the option of a 2l engine and, of course, it was the source of the close ratio 2000E gearbox.

The body lines lent themselves particularly well to the convertible conversion.

I hear you Paul, I was always a fan of the V4 myself, but when I saw that particular image I felt the profile of the nose was too stubby and the height of the rear quarter panel was too much. A slightly more sloping and maybe a tad shorter boot line would have looked much more refined to me. It is of course subjective and I shouldn't have mentioned it in the same paragraph as Edsel :-D. However a new paint job, set of alloys and change of angle shows what a lovely car it was. :) :)

That's a very subtle alteration Mick. I can't see any difference except for lower resolution!

I think my reducing and putting them on the same picture in a failed attempt to make them more comparable actually masked the differences. Here is the original picture followed by the amendment:

Had a mate with the V4 and was mightily impressed with it, looked great.
The cabriolet unfortunately looks quite ungainly.

The colour does it no favours - it just extenuates its design flaws. Even a distinct chrome waist trim would help. The reshaping front and back helps but lowering the ride height would do wonders for the esthetics as would a two tone paint job in the correct balance of tones and hood colour.

I have looked at Gunmetal Grey for a choice of single body colour and I think that would suit its proportions. That and stainless steel sills and rear valance trims.

Found another colour in my swatches - Riviera Blue. I think that would work too.
