Odd arrangement of copper nails for single planked? The caulking process only fully works after the boat is put in the water and takes up water in the wood. Only then do you find out if you have done a decent job of the caulking.

PS I love boats, especially sailing boats. SWMBO doesn't so I am limited to hiring a narrowboat for the day - as long as it stops at canalside pubs - often.

So go cruising the canals around Birmingham. There are canalside pubs (although there are less of them than there used to be, thanks to trendy canalside apartments whose owners don't like the noise from the pubs, complained and got the licenses revoked), and a more extensive canal system than Venice.

in the videp bobins posted up on the electric vehicles conversions thread, Ed China mentioned 3 d printing in metal.

Having personally no concept of how this would be done I watched this Video.

This popped up at the side of some videos on the Truck Battery Swapping of Janus trucks in Australia. Not Australia but the Pyrenees. I thought airstrips were flat, or maybe a gentle slope. This is neither flat nor gentle, and its up a mountain. The prospect of impending doom kept my interest, although the pilot seemed calm enough.

Nice. I remember one of the FCF Faithful, Old'uns, had a job on for Ocado, putting the vinyl artwork on the side of some Brand new Electric Vans...

well that went well....not
side livery 30mm too short, bodybuilder gave us an old drawing ](*,)
so no livery, no pics and a Friday off.
not even a peak at the 'gubbins', only external giveaway is the BD logo in place of the FIAT one on the grille
vinyl being (to be) used is a PVC free one to go with the 'green' message, strangely enough it is harder to trim than conventional vinyl - must be like the CFC free cling film, you know, the b*****d stuff that doesn't tear properly

The latest episode of Edd China's Workshop Diarys includes a section about the Nash Metropolitan which has appeared on the FCF recently. If you are not interested in the rest fast forward to 17.30 for the Nash :

Watched it this morning. Metropolitans are obviously flavour of the month! Don't be surprised if Edd makes it amphibious. Seriously though, a convertible with MGB engine and overdrive box along with uprated shockers would be a cool, useable thing.

A couple of months ago I posted one of the videos in a boat renovation series I am watching. This weekend Leo uploaded episode 100 in the series which is a complete resumé of all the work since the project began so I thought it might be a good time to post another in the series on here: :-D

Good watch. Interesting story, and nice bit of woodworking. More a build than a restoration...have any bits of timber from the original boat actually survived :-D

320,000 Subscribers on youtube, and the consequent crop of patrons and you can finance doing the things you want to do! No wonder one of the the top jobs desired by the youngsters of today is to become a youtuber. :-D

Not easy though and he was quite revealing about the reality. Very little of his time spent doing the hands on boatbuilding he enjoys himself, or for free-time, with the rest taken up with editing and filming the content, finance, admin, tools/project management/resources/materials/ finances.

Throughout the project most of the timbers which have been replaced in the structure have been put into storage for reuse in the internal fit out as much as possible. Since the interior was missing when Leo aquired the boat he knew he would have to source all new timber, so he opted to use his newly sourced materials in the structure of the boat and re-use as much as possible in the interior where for example a 4" weathered timber could be reused as 3" planed and thereby ensure the boat was only fitted with good wood and retain some originality. I have been amazed and impressed with his courage and fortitude as the project developed and I signed up last summer!! :-D
