2010 C5 X7 Clock losing time!

Unread post by GavinPJ »

Another weird one folks! The time clock isn't holding its memory. I had to bring it forward about 5 minutes the other morning but now it has lost
about half hour in total. Unless it is a time machine! :-)

Hi Gavin - Battery, battery or battery.

The only reason these will generally loose time start blinking / flashing is if they are disconnected from the power source.

How old is the car battery? If anything 5 years or older, then it's probably on its way out.

Pop your VIN up (auto-masked on post submission) so I can see exactly which system you have.

There may be another possibility though - the GPS N Week Rollover issue. If you have your navigation system settings set to 'Synchronise Time with GPS', then you must UNTICK this option. This will also help ensure your system's navigation is not affected by the issue when navigating.

Cheers Marc,
Now you mention it, I did notice the car was in Eco mode in the mornings lately.
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] is the VIN. First thing that came to mind was a battery on it's way
out as my last X7 was going into Eco mode all the time until I replaced the battery.

Ok, so it's the MyWay RNEG system. - Yes, look to battery but also check out the Time synchronisation setting I mentioned - make sure it is off to get around N Week Rollover issue.

Another one for you Marc. One of the kids has a 2008 207 and the clock won't keep time or date saved.
Overnight it is like the battery has been disconnected but it always starts no worries at all.

Did it used to keep time or has the problem always been here?
Check the shunt fuse in the BSI fusebox the client position & not park?
Has anyone been messing about with fuses just before this happened?

I have the same issue on a DS3 and would really appreciate a fix?

the clock keeps losing time (around 15 mins per day). It's not resetting like a flat or disconnected battery, it's just slow.
I unchecked the "sync with GPS" option and it's still the same, with this option ticked you cant set the clock to the correct time!

It would certainly be worth doing a BSI reset first if you have not already done so.

Quick update folks. I replaced the battery and all was fine for a few months
but it has started to lose time again. Lost 5 mins in the passed month and
seems to stopped at that. Due a service soon so I'll get a BSi reset done
then.

Forgot to update this. When I got the car first the radio used to switch itself off every 30 mins to 45 mins.
It would switch itself back on after about 10 seconds. It never really bothered me, unless I was on a call as
it would cut the Bluetooth off. Had the car running to warm up one eve before I left work and the radio and
media screen etc had completely died when I went out to it. Picked up a replacement radio, screen and heater
control panel (that is the way the breaker was selling it) for €80. Fitted the radio and all was perfect. Had to switch
on the parking sensors in the BSi and that was it. Brother in law is buying the car off me. Hope it is as good to him
as it was to me. It is just shy of 340,000 kms now.
