Citroen parts
Afternoon all
Apart from a Citroen dealer where is the best place to buy genuine parts?
I'm after a drivers side front window switch assembly. I'll probably end up having to use a dealer anyways because they'll need my vin number but I thought I'd ask.
Cheers

Re: Citroen parts
post your vin up and someone will be able to identify the correct part number.
As a donor i would put the vin in your signature that way Admins can see it and not need to ask for it

Re: Citroen parts
Hi as you are a donor, pop your VIN - which we need for parts anyway (auto masked from public view on post submission). I can then get you the correct part number, from which you may be able to source an alternative genuine part from a dealer having a clear out (ebay and the like). Bear in mind that you won't always be able to get genuine parts elsewhere as they are specially made for the manufacturer in may cases.
Some parts are used across the PSA marques, and some are international parts that are common amongst other car manufacturers like engine sensors and components. Electrical ECUs tend to be more specialised though.
But you will at least need the original part number to start with and for that I need your VIN.

I'll grab the vin tomorrow and attempt to auto mask it? I'm not 100% sure if I know how to do that.GiveMeABreak wrote: 28 Mar 2021, 17:38 Hi as you are a donor, pop your VIN - which we need for parts anyway (auto masked from public view on post submission). Re: Citroen parts
You don't need to do anything, just enter your VIN and the forum software masks it automatically.Estate87 wrote: 28 Mar 2021, 20:03

Re: Citroen parts
For example; VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] (I just entered the characters V, F, and 7 to demonstrate the auto-mask function).

So enter my vin on a reply and it'll mask it? Sorry I'm not very forum savvy.

Re: Citroen parts
What is the problem with the original assembly? If it is because it does not manage some of the windows properly you might want to just open it and clean the various contacts. I had (on my first C5) a couple of windows not responding properly, I cleaned the contacts, and the windows worked properly. Steve (Trainman) had the same problem, and he cleaned the contacts as well, and his windows worked properly.

Re: Citroen parts
It's stopped operating the wing mirrors properly, I replaced it with another assembly, all be it 2nd hand and now it's even worse. The wing mirrors had stopped dropping when the car is in reverse.Hell Razor5543 wrote: 28 Mar 2021, 21:07 What is the problem with the original assembly? Am I chasing the wrong part being faulty or is this a good place to start?

Re: Citroen parts
I would still try cleaning the contacts (on the original module, if you still have it) before buying a new unit from Citroen. Make sure to use a PROPER contact cleaner to do the job. The modules are not difficult to open. You are removing the plastic 'plate' where the cables plug in. Care and a small blade screwdriver should do the job of opening it up.

Re: Citroen parts
I had the same, the second time the membrane had expanded and the mirrors were a nightmare to operate and never had a full range of movement. I was intending to replace it but then scrapped the car - not because of than of course.Hell Razor5543 wrote: 28 Mar 2021, 21:07 What is the problem with the original assembly? Perhaps I'll try cleaning up the connections on this assembly as I through the other one away.Hell Razor5543 wrote: 28 Mar 2021, 21:23 I would still try cleaning the contacts (on the original module, if you still have it) before buying a new unit from Citroen. I'll sure to put my vin up and get some clarification of the part though also.
