C4 VTS - Driver side carpet is wet

Post by lancia58 »

Hi

I just noticed that the driver side carpet (LHD) is wet. I peeled off the rug a bit and the floor under the rug was a bit wet. The liquid that wetted the carpet is a little greasy, so I guess it's the coolant (this is Citroen's original coolant). A few months ago I had to add coolant - albeit a small amount. I added several times - and after that the water level seems to be stable and there is no need to add more coolant.
Could this be a leaking heater matrix? How can I verify this? The picture shows the area that was wet after I dried the liquid (coolant?) l.

The easiest way to tell if its coolant is the taste test. When i say taste i mean dab a little on your tounge with your finger, you will know straight away if its anti freeze.
Alternatively just remove the heater matrix & have a look, its a fairly easy replacement job on the C4 as no need to remove the dashboard (not a RHD model anyway).

This any good? As far a heater matrix jobs go the C4 is one of the better ones. Never done a LHD version but it looks pretty much the same as RHD.
