Citroen C5 Tourer Exclusive (X7) Steering Rack reconditioning
Hi All,
I have a Citroen C5 Tourer Exclusive 2.0 (X7) 2008 and the steering rack is leaking badly. I've been looking into getting the rack re-conditioned and wondered if anyone could recommend a company that could do this. I'm up North in Carlisle but would travel to get it done.
I was thinking of maybe picking up a used rack, getting that re-conditioned and then replacing mine with the reconditioned rack but not sure how I find the correct part number. There are a few used racks on eBay but there are obviously different racks for different models. Mine has the Hydractive suspension so I presume the rack will be different to that on a C5 Tourer with conventional springs.
The chassis number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Does anyone know the part number of the rack that would fit this car? A couple of companies that recondition racks have asked if the car chassis is "FWD II RE_" or "FWD II RW_". Not sure what this means. Can anyone please help?
Regards,
Ian

Just tell them you need the rack for the 180 ° Travel for the DW10BTED4 Engine.

Speaking generally about the X7 there are basically two different types which vary only in the amount of lock-to-lock turns that they are limited to. The rack for 16" wheels is, I think, limited to a slightly smaller amount compared to the one fitted to all other size wheels (17", 18" and 19").
That's for RHD cars. I presume the LHD cars have a similar difference but don't know for sure.

No the 17" is also 180 ° - I've already looked it up from his VIN. It's the same as mine and I've had 3 of them.
And for information even some 16" wheels can have the 184 ° Travel . so it is really is down to engine and wheels fitted, hence VIN is needed to be sure.

That is new information as the last time this was discussed I'm fairly sure the situation was as I posted.GiveMeABreak wrote: 19 Mar 2021, 10:09 No the 17" is also 180 ° - I've already looked it up from his VIN. It's the same as mine and I've had 3 of them.

Re: Citroen C5 Tourer Exclusive (X7) Steering Rack reconditioning
Hi All,
My reconditioned rack is being fitted today but my indie garage has a problem. The pipe from the pump to the rack is damaged and needs replaced. The Citroen dealer is saying they'll have to put it on back order and don't know when they can get one for. Does anyone know where I could get a pipe from? The part number is 4014JP.
Regards,
Ian

Ian,
You an try this lot but it'll cost
https://peugeotcitroendsparts.com/produ ... 014nv.html
The above pipe fits my C5, just enter your Citroen part number in their search engine and good luck
There 2 other similar sites run by the same head company.
