Post by Alex2010 »

Hi,
I have Additive System problem, I changed additive pump and the pouch because was empty and had hole. I tried to reset, but still have [p additive reached low] on dashboard.
P1446-Additive system Additive low level reached - permanent fault
The question is, do my car have a control unit for additive system.
The car VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Thanks Alex

You do have a separate additive control ECU (EAS300). Remember with this system you need to reset the additive counter AND prime the additive adding circuit. Both operations need to be done using Lexia / Diagbox.

These units are known to fail - but make sure you have performed both operations first.

It's possible that somebody has tried to refill the pouch before and punctured it. The pouches are not supposed to be refilled, only replaced, unlike the hard tanks that can be refilled. In this case, if the additive pump has been dry running, it may have damaged the actual pump, so consider that as a possible issue too. But try the full resetting procedures and if that fails I would start checking additive pump operation and the ECU.

Here's a list of Forum members with Lexia kits Alex:

At the end of the list is a link to a Google Map, showing the members' geographic locations and details. Just use the Private Message or Email links on the member's profile to contact anyone suitable.

List of Lexia / Diagbox Owners with Kits Offering Help

Bear in mind, although we update the list as often as we can, not all members are active on the Forum all the time, so it may take a while for a reply - and please remember current lockdown restrictions may make this difficult at present.

Hi Alex.

According to your vehicle's specifications as it rolled out the factory, your vehicle does have the EAS additional additive ECU (May be either an EAS 200 or 300) - but I suspect your diagnostic tool may not see it.

We do recommend a Lexia with Diagbox as it can talk to all the ECUs, but it is supposed to be there:

As you can see, it is item 40 on the diagram.....
EAS300.PNG
You should have a Bosch EDC16C34 engine ECU on your vehicle.

There is also the possibility that this was on the cusp of the changeover to Engine ECU Control - for this year, so they may have incorporated that function within the Engine ECU but left it on the diagram for earlier years...
