The Siren is in the front right wing.
The ECU is in the interior of the car somewhere on the engine Bulkhead.
And then there are the various sensors dotted about.

Just finished putting the front interior back together after stripping it back to the bulkhead, no sign of the module. Anywhere else it might be?. It's a 2.0 16v petrol if that makes a difference

From memory is clipped to the bulkhead up behind the glovebox, small black box with blue & brown connectors on it & a label that says TEXTON.

Thanks for the offer I already have a replacement. I have stripped the facia completely back to the bulkhead leaving only the heater matrix and blower but it is nowhere to be seen. Is there anywhere else that it might be ie over rear wheel arch 'cos it ain't on the front

I know this is a bit late, but can you pop your VIN up - just in case it isn't fitted with one! :(

I've had a look at another Petrol C8 of this year and there is a unit called the interior protection unit (anti-theft alarm) - item is 8602 on this diagram - which if it's what you are looking for would appear to be here:

VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff],
when I bought the replacement parts they sent me ecu, bsi ,key transponder, speedo module and alarm module. I fitted ecu bsi and key transponder but not clocks or alarm module as I did'nt think that these would be coded to ecu, but when I connect the battery and do the reboot the engine turns over (which is an improvement on before) but will not start and the alarm is activated but not the siren just the hazards on continuously even with the ignition off, I have to disconnect the battery to switch them off. I dont want to throw the car away as it really suits our needs but I am getting towards the end of my patience

Right, that answers the first issue - the vehicle was not fitted with an anti theft alarm at the factory, so that's why it is not there.

Second, if you have replaced the BSI and engine ECU and the BSI was lifted straight of another vehicle, it will be configured with the options for the donor vehicle. So if your donor BSI was from a vehicle with an alarm system fitted, then the ECU will be configured as present in the donor BSI, when it is not physically installed in the vehicle. This will be one reason why it is playing up.

What you need to do is go through the BSI settings / configuration and make sure you have the correct equipment fitted for your own vehicle. Obviously, one thing you need to do is locate the Alarm section and change the option to non fitted.

So, using Lexia:
"DIAGNOSIS"

Select the vehicle
"GLOBAL TEST"
"BSI ECU"
"PROGRAMMING"
"MANUAL CONFIGURATION"

Choose the following sub-menu:
"CONFIGURATION"

The sub-menu "CONFIGURATION" has 5 sub-menus:

"VEHICLE DEFINITION - EQUIPMENT - DRIVER’S INFORMATION"
"AIR CONDITIONING - CABIN HEATING"
"LIGHTING - SIGNALLING - VISIBILITY - REAR VIEW MIRRORS"
"LOCKING - DOORS & TAILGATE - IMMOBILISER - ALARM"
"FUEL GAUGE LAW - OIL LEVEL GAUGE LAW"

So first of all locate the Alarm section and change it to 'not present' or whatever the option is.

You may have to go through the BSI (caution advised) and just look for anything obviously not correct. Your engine is an EW10A and the injection system is a Siemens (SID803) from what I can tell. Make sure the correct gearbox is selected (BVM5) too.

If you need a hand - post back after you've digested this.

That's what the VIN states as the injection variant - but I'd expect it to be a Magneti Marelli or a Bosch - so look out for MM6LP, MM6LPB, or MM6LPC, but whatever it is, when you do a Global Test, look under the Engine ECU Icon and it should provide you with the engine ECU identification when it picks it up.

The equipment supplied by Easy Diagnostics is considered to be pretty good.

Re: alarm module location

Ok, so back again. After wasting an inordinate amount of time trying to install diagnostics on my laptops and messing one up in the process I have decided to take another approach(thanks for easydiagnose suggestion but they did'nt have any when I enquired). Taken that the replacement ECU needs to find the alarm module that is missing on my car, what if I fitted the one that came with the ECU, and would I be able to fool the module into thinking that the sensors were fitted. This may be a complicated way of going about this but all I have found is that there are many different suppliers all peddling the same lexia software which I know does not work for me, and I really don't want to throw the car away. There is a 6 pin socket at top right of under-dash fuse box which I believe is were the module should plug into. Possible or am I just p*ssing in the wind?

No, not really, as the Alarm ECU will expect to have all the sensor inputs and if these are missing it may think they have been tampered with / or will activate the alarm. If you can't get your own version presently, see below in case you haven't seen the link to see if a member with a kit can help you out:

At the end of the list is a link to a Google Map, showing the members' geographic locations and details. Just use the Private Message or Email links on the member's profile to contact anyone suitable.

Bear in mind, although we update the list as often as we can, not all members are active on the Forum all the time, so it may take a while for a reply - and please remember current lockdown restrictions may make this difficult at present.
