There's a simple answer to that. A salesman will say whatever is needed to make a sale. And then hope that it won't matter in the future.

And for what it's worth, they may, like Citroen, have a review page for both the dealership and the sales team. I've just completed mine for our vehicle - It's called 'Citroen Advisor'.

The DS equivalent I can't get working at present - but this would appear to be the link:

elaine wrote: 11 Jan 2021, 11:22 Having said that DS's FAQs on website states Xenon have flat beam so shouldn't dazzle oncoming traffic, but to be on safe side add deflectors! So, going round in circles on that one too.
On the C5 i was talking about earlier it was an EU vehicle I was prepping for being registered in the UK, Citroen UK told me the same thing about the C5 xenon lamps but when I put the car on a beam setter it most certainly did have a kick up.
elaine wrote: 11 Jan 2021, 11:22Someone else (mechanic) mentioned many Xenon headlamps have a lever inside the unit of the nearside headlight to adjust the nearside headlamp, have you heard of that?
That is correct, some lamps do have this feature & some can even be changed by using the cars menu without even lifting the bonnet. The fact that they sell different versions for LHD & RHD would suggest that these lamps don have this feature though.

Your DS5 does have the later headlamps, that is the ones with LEDs and Xenon's and yes, they are very expensive.

The bare headlamps for driving on the Right hand side of the road - as in France are:

Image

Left Lamp Part number: 1613381080, £1411.76 inc. VAT
Right Lamp Part Number: 1613380980, £1411.76 inc. VAT

I should point out that these lamps above are only for the bare lamp themselves if you were buying them from Citroen / DS. The bulbs and ballast and 'drivers' for the LEDs would likely be separate.

However, this part number should be what you need for locating second hand units - although I expect these to be uncommon....

There is a slightly cheaper price for these here:

https://peugeotcitroendsparts.com/brand ... c&page=931

£2591.44 for the pair inc. VAT Shipping to France is £11.99 by courier for items over £60.
Those Part numbers look unusual to me, here's the Part numbers I found relating to the DS5 Post 2015 headlamp (LED and Xenon) which get quoted on the secondhand market.

I found these on a polish website

And that is precisely why staff don't use third party sites for part numbers - we only use PSA for parts info. You have linked to some Polish spare parts site using dollars in the Ukraine! I think that would be more unusual, don't you? :-k

None of those numbers are even recognised as part numbers across PSA vehicles. I've removed them to avoid confusion, but left the link.

I just wanted to update on the headlamp situation. After a lot of investigation and worrying, the car passed the French equivalent of MOT by using the stickers. It was actually touch and go whether or not the stickers would actually be needed, but in the end the technician doing the 'MOT' used them. Big relief. Thanks to everyone who helped in this matter. Well done Elaine, I'm glad you have a result without a mortgage on the lights. Sadly with the latest restrictions my mate had to return to Spain on his own using the Portsmouth to Santander ferry anf bypassing France altogether so no chance to meet you for a beer this time. However as with most things these days it is a suck it and see situation. Nevertheless keep an eye on the forum as there is always some amusement to be had! :)

I've just signed up to post another headlight question and I saw yours. If it's any help I just bought a new headlight from a german site called autodoc for £330.

That wont be for these! Yours are probably just the HID version without LEDs. There are 3 types which we've gone through already earlier in the thread and the OP has the most expensive versions which are cost prohibitive to change.

That link specifically says H7/H1 not LED.

Yes, quite right Paul - which indicates a non-LED version, but regardless, these are not originals, they're made by a third party.

@ greengriff: I've already gone over this in the thread, but to clarify the 3 types of lamp units fitted to the DS5:
DS5 Halogen Only H1 and H7.PNG
DS5 Discharge and H1 Halogen.PNG
DS5 LED and Discharge.PNG
Halogen Lamps Only (H1 & H7)Discharge Lamp (D1S) and H1 HalogenSealed LED and Discharge (D1S)
Note: Although the first 2 images look the same they are not. The first image shows a projector lens - but this is for a halogen lamp not a D1S discharge bulb. So what you have ordered is for the first image only - not the LED or Discharge lamps!

The Halogen only (image 1) is the cheapest and costs from Citroen about £421
The Discharge and Halogen (Image 2) cost about £1,096
The LED and Discharge (Image 3) are the most expensive at £1,447.
