Xantia 2.0hdi exclusive project.
Bought a 1999 xantia at the end of November, have rebuilt the rear inner and outer sills. Now moving onto the front end, removed the front bumber to get a better look at things. Can anyone knowledgeable on the xantia answer a few questions..
I want to replace the clutch, have done 1.9tds in the past with the pull clutch, this looks hydraulic system. Just wondering if it a pull system how is the lever engaged with the bearing? Or maybe it is a standard system..??
When the car is sat for a while it sinks down at the front, no leaks. Haven't really looked into it, but has the electro valve on the front crossmember and on the rear subframe, they buzz for a while when the door is opened, have a recept from pleiades for all 8 spheres replaced, and they all look new.

EV on the front cross-member (and there will be another at the rear end) means the system is Hydractive 2.

This thread, although describing the job on an Activa, will give you a lot of insights into doing the same on a 110 HDi with the hydraulic clutch...

This thread could go way OT but Pitlochry is one of the places i have happy memories of, took our old 1.9TD towing the caravan there via York and on the way back via Derby.
What a totally delightful place

That's it Colin WFA was an acronym for 'Why F**** About'
I see my old Activa still wears its number plates with 'Team WFA' written on them
I must get a set for Daffodil...
Wow! Must have been registered in the same week!white exec wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021, 17:37 Just looked across at that thread, Jim . . .

Re: Xantia 2.0hdi exclusive project.
thanks for the links, will spend some time looking through them .
Sounds like the clutch is completely different to the 1.9td pull system.. look forward to that.....
Trying to put some photos up of the work so far, yesterday did the timing belt, water pump, removed radiator and intercooler to clean them out and found the engine mounts perished. made a good shopping list which I have been ordering parts today..

Excellent I'm looking forward to enjoying further instalments of your restoration of this car...
Yes, as different as can be I think... It's still a pull clutch but there the similarity ends... Don't be too worried about it as it's al quite logical and easy to get your head around

Re: Xantia 2.0hdi exclusive project.
so while waiting for my parts to turn up, removed the eberspatcher heater to test the glow plug as this is the usual fault with them.. I could not find the heater on my Delphi diagnostics which is odd as you can usually check the faults out. the glow plug was dead so added that to my shopping list..
today my parts turned up, new engine mounts x2 so pressed the old out, new in and fitted the one that fits to the body.. fitted my new auto and manual tensioner, aux belt. fitted new glow plug into the heater so can fit that back into the car next, then I can try to see if I can find it on my diagnostics again, if not, not sure what way to reset the codes, if anyone has any ideas that would be a help..

Excellent work
I once had an HDi Xantia with an Erberspacher heater Magical devices on a cold and frosty morning!
I love how they sound like a little jet aeroplane

Wow, excellent work. Looks like the car has found the owner it's been needing for a while.

Re: Xantia 2.0hdi exclusive project.
Iv had them on other diesel cars, makes so much difference. I popped it back in this afternoon and it struck straight into life and tried to start a couple of times, but gave up in the end. I will give it another few goes to see if it is trying to bleed its self and if no go have another look at it... Got the engine back running again now all the mounts back on. Building it back up, but seem to have lost a grommet from the washer bottle fill pipe so stopped at putting the bumper back on, the front end is all future proofed now, with all new bolts where needed so can be removed easily...
