Not a guess here Neil but....I've spent a fair bit of time on DDG hunting for the clock, the sundial and the lampost with no success at all. Obviously I can't go for a google search or use streetview so I just wondered which item was your main clue?
I certainly found it pretty difficult to frame a query to come up with the answer. I thought it would be easy.
It was the church itself, and just looking at a lot of images. I reckoned it would be either Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire. To save you the pain it's not Bedfordshire even though there is a flickr group with over a 1000 images of Bedfordshire churches.
Had a flick through this
http://cuckoofaircards.co.uk/chilterns.html no help though... they have a series for Hertfordshire too!
I summoned up Geograph, and gradually expanded outwards from Newport Pagnell. Each 1 km square has a series of images and in the browser you can put in Newport Pagnell within 3 miles and church.
Not sure if that produced the answer or not. From Jim's activity there are a few villages he regularly posts about...
...again the 3 mile limit and churches may do it....I'll check and see.
I also put in wooden sundial queries. The biggest clue should have been the thatched what do you call them Lydgate or something at the entrance to the church where on another thread picture Jim leans his bike.. It says Silver Jubilee 1977. Wasn't much help.
I think in the end one of the many came up with an image of the church.
Keep going but don't get too stuck, I'll give more assistance if needed
Regards Neil
