2007 Citroen C3 1.4i Cool - Fitting a Splash Guard

Post by gas »

Having just last week bought a second hand 2007 C3 I hadn't realised it was missing the front drivers side splash guard / inner wheel arch.

I've ordered one from ebay with a handful of clips to fix it in place...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-C3-I-20 ... 4279782038

Has anyone else fitted the splash guard? A walkthrough vid or just tips and pointers on what to look out for would be much appreciated. Is it held in place just by the clips or do i need to get myself some bolts or screws beforehand?

It's a bit wet and cold and busy with work this week so I probably won't be tackling the fitting for a few days yet.

Cheers

Hi, and :welc: to the Forum.

If you post up the VIN here (it will, for security reasons, be obscured so only Forum staff can read it; I am not forum staff) somebody could then look up your vehicle, including the parts/procedures for fitting the splash guard. I have done this on my C5 and there are a few 'securing bits' needed to hold it properly in place.

The genuine Citroen ones are custom fitting box-type guards that are moulded to fit and have their own fitting instructions - if you are getting an aftermarket set then these may be universal and probably won't fit exactly. So depends on what you want as to how to fit them. If you are buying C3 Mud guards and don't have the fitting guide I can email you the official instructions - but these are only relevant for the C3 designed mud guards.

Hi Mark It's the entire inner wheel arch surround that I'm fitting, not mudguards. Thanks anyway. It took me a few days to find the eBay item which was matched to my VIN so I'm assuming the new splash guard will fit perfectly. If not, I've knives, a drill and cable ties to force it home securely.

Ok 👍 got you.

If they’ve used your VIN you should be fine, they are generally just press studs to fit these.

It’s actually called a wheel housing mud guard, as you can see, item 15:

The studs I referred to are (70).

You may need to get around ten 'hog rings' or 'blind rivets' (depending on your car age) to secure the guard.

These are hog rings (and may be right for your car, but you would need to check);

And these are blind rivets (same proviso);

That's a wealth of information. I already have half a dozen spare clips but have bought a 10 pack to be sure it's as secure as can be.

Thank you all for your help with this! Obviously i'll be back if it falls off one dark night :)
