I had one of those Wartburg Knights, took it px but it had big end bearings buggered so it went for scrap in the end.

The crankshaft was a pressed assembly with roller bearing big ends so not an easy or cheap fix and the car would have been worth next to nowt even if I'd fixed it.

It had a three speed gearbox and freewheel transmission and of course a two stroke three cylinder engine..

The ad summed the engine up as a major selling point....
..power from a "turbine smooth" 3-cylinder 55hp 2-stroke engine without valves, camshafts, oil-pump-no oil changes needed-simplicity itself!"

Don't forget that a two-stroke engine has a firing pulse on every revolution so a three cylinder engine is as balanced as a six cylinder four-stroke engine. And we know how he secondary harmonics cancel out on one of those. Also, with power every stroke, it's effectively twice the nominal size compared to a four-stroke engine.

Which made my old two-stroke Suzuki GT550 Triple such a joyously sweet, powerful and turbine smooth motorcycle Paul :D After riding a two-stroke triple for a few years 4-stroke bikes then seemed very rough in comparison...

Big two-stroke triples also sound and smell nice too :D

A photo from your archives of the old Suzuki would be food and drink for this thread!

Well might as well dig this up, its a 2 Stroke Diesel
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 11 Oct 2018, 21:28 This Commer 2-stroke diesel has already made an appearance on POTD proper, but might as well be brought into the fold here.

Further rummaging this morning and I discovered my collection of travel badges, put together before my teens when it was a craze to cover your duffel bag with badges of your adventures. I can say without doubt that every one of these was bought personally in the place depicted!!: :-D
Own work, and plenty of fun!!

Enjoy a nostalgic 1 minute 23 seconds trip on the Royal Daffodil Mick.....also the name of a Mersey ferry too. While this ship existed the Mersey Royal Daffodil had a Roman II added to her name.

More rummaging this afternoon turned up some of my football programs from Wembley in the 60's:

good effort Mick, need to keep these threads ticking over, jogging memories, and a bit of new content to keep it interesting.

Only been to Wembley once....spur of the moment thing always the best. Someone suggested it, might have been me, day tickets to Kings Cross duly purchased and off we went.

England V Denmark friendly, 1-0 to England Kevin Keegan scored , but the best moment was singing the National Anthem....spine-tingling :-D

I'll have to look it up see how accurate my recall was.

PS Euro Qualifier Round 1 as it turns out not a friendly. 12th September 1979

Then I can deduce you haven't been to the new stadium yet! The last time I went I was horrified at the prices around the catering stalls. Beer was £5.50 a pint and pie and chips £8.50. £14 each for supper before the match, £5.50 each for a half time pint £10.00 for the programs and £22 to park. That was £71 for the two of us without our £17.50 tickets. So £105.00 + petrol for an evening friendly against Brazil, which was the motivation for going, 2019 it was!! :)

Only been to two football 'stadia' - stadiumses?
First was to watch Whitby play at home after returning jubilant from Wembley, never to be heard of again.
Boringest afternoon of the decade. Never again.

Second time was the infamous Heysel Stadium*.

To see the Mylène Farmer Point De Suture tour 2008/9.

This on the gigantic screen behind her while she sang.
