In recognition that for some getting out and about with the camera may be difficult bit more of an indoor task for POTD.
I am thinking everyone has stocks and stock of photographs in their homes, probably stored away in boxes and albums never looked at for years.
Well here is an excuse to dig some out from time to time and post them up in this thread. As with ordinary POTD no threshold of photography skill or or interestingness applies. Just join in if you can.
A technique seeing as most of archive photos will be not be digital, but physical printed pictures and maybe slides which is easier than scanning is just to take a photo of the photo with your camera or phone.
Lets see how it goes, I had better start it off. Photo of photos.

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
Now that is doubly spooky!! When I was thinking about a new thread yesterday, which resulted in Tales of the Unexpected, one of the ideas which occurred to me was PIP as in Picture in Picture but modified to PoP, Picture of Picture. The second spooky thing is that I was going to start with some pics of one of my previous chariots, though I have to go up in the loft to find them. I wasn't thinking of my Lancia Beta Spider, which really would have been spooky, but a different car I used to love. I'll try and find them later!!

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
Just so happens I was looking through some photos yesterday, and I came across this one of my 2005 C5. What a stunning looking car (I thought) It was about three years old when I took the pic. I still like to track it through the Gov.uk mot website. It's still on the road with around 180K miles.

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
I have had to clear a load of my crap out of my favourite cupboard to accommodate my grandson's crap, he left for Norway yesterday.
Several boxes of photo's, mostly from the sixties and early seventies.
Scanned a few, it has taken ages to find the folder I scanned them to and now find that they are too big to post.
Back to the drawing board
This is the only one that I could find that was small enough. Three sisters on Whitby beach, taken from the pier. 1969.

Leaving my friends house just after midnight one new year, in one of my pxs a Triumph Acclaim.
Ten minutes after this was taken I was pulled by the cops......."Hello Mr G have you had a drink?" "Just the one to see the new year in." "OK, happy new year."

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
I started with a check through a couple of boxes in the bottom of the wardrobe which turned up quite a few interesting things which I will post elsewhere but as far as photos just three from this source. One is exceedingly obvious but just for fun, 10 points for each building named and 25 points for the possible name (there were four the same) of the boat:

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
The building to the right of County Hall will be St Thomas's Hospital. Not that I recognise it from the photo. Since then it must have been severely altered. For quite a few years during the late 1950's I used to spend a couple of hours every Monday evening inside County Hall. Now it has become the London Marriott County Hall Hotel. I haven't a clue about the boat.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑05 Jan 2021, 14:5430 points there John well done, still 1 building to name to the right of County Hall and of course the boat!!![]()

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
Well this website has an awful lot about Thames boats with pics. If that pic is indeed a police launch haven't found anything like it
.

even the Thames Bubbler which caught my attention used to re-oxygenate the Thames

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
I think you'll have to do a reveal on the boat and retain the points for yourself Mick, no trace whatsoever on the internet of that style of River Thames Police launch that I can find, other than the brief appearance in the vid you mentioned, and so name discovered by me.

Re: POTD your "memory lane" Photos
Well the camera remained in its holster as far as out of door photography was concerned, dull and wet this morning, and dark and wet tonight. I did discover some of my old school artwork from the 1960's so here is a photo of bit original artwork from the young falcon...
