ESP/ABS warning light on

Post by KennyW »

Hello All,

New problem ESP/ABS warning light came on yesterday morning resulting poor running and stalling, managed to get home.

Put Diagbox on and the following faults recorded:

Inj/Ign P0017, P0337, P0338
ABS & ESB U1208 probably related to above the others are not relevent

P0337 & 0338 which engine sensors to these relate to.

Thoughts please

Mr Google says all 3 of those faults refer to the crankshaft sensor. U1208 is loss of coms between ABS and engine ECUs - if the engine is getting invalid speed info, then that follows.

Yes, sorry I've been out and about the last few days. That's the correct part (1920QS) and you've seen my post about it. Cost today is £45.50 for a Genuine OEM one from Citroen inclusive.

I know, sometimes the dealer prices can be better than an aftermarket alternative - just depends on the stock and timing I guess! Hope it sorts the issue anyway.

Marc
This fault seems to be an issue during damp weather, several posts including my own with the same issue on C5 x7s
Thx

Re: ESP/ABS warning light on

Well I have reopened this thread again as It appears the sensor has packed in again.

3 fault codes P0336,0337 and 0338 along with a host of communication fault codes.

As Steveo mentioned earlier this happened last night in the rain and is still affecting car this morning.

Can the sensor move away from the toothed ring ?

Thoughts

Hi
It cannot move unless the securing bolt has become detached / broken (unlikely)
The sensor as you are probably aware has a position register and a bolt to hold it in position
Check connection to make sure the wiring connector is locked together properly and no damp has got into the wiring connections.
It also could be aa faulty sensor
Regards

Thanks for the reply Steve,

As usual problems happen when you're going to do something,we are going to Inverness tomorrow so I've got no time investigate further but a quick update, removed same yesterday, gave a spray with WD40 to clear residual muck on sensor allowed wd40 to evaporate and refitted, it turned over but didn't start.

So will remove it again and speak to the part supplier re a replacement. I presume it has 1 year warranty.

Will get back to the forum with an outcome.

Does anyone know what make was originally fitted.

Thoughts please,

I suspect it will be Delphi or Valeo Kenny, but can't be 100% sure.
