I would say every chance as well....although that one is slightly curved. Having watched the viaduct sequence which is book-ended by that sticky up stone scene...I would reckon there is no continuity between that scene and the viaduct.

I am not giving it maximum attack because I am watching Chelsea game but if there is no continuity between the arches and the stone walls that brings Ribblehead back into the reckoning as well I'd say!!

From POTD today
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 20 Dec 2020, 17:57 Not a weighty enough matter for a call out of the full Trivia Investigation Team but I'll certainly be seeing what I can deduce from this.

Address for Forest City is Altringham historic county of Cheshire but part of Greater Manchester.

On to Graces Guide
Looks like an "electrical wing was in Salford...selling shock absorbers for cars amongst other things...

Forest City was established by the late S.T. Quilliam in 1902, it is still under the full control of the Quilliam family and operates with 100 employees from a two acre factory site near Manchester. Its equipment is installed in locations as diverse as London's Oxford Street, Glencoe, U.K. motorways, most U.K. Airports. The Falklands, Tahiti, Nigeria and Venezuela and many other places throughout the world.
Interesting bit about that the name "Quilliam" same name as "The Quilliam Brothers" who opened a very popular tearoom near Newcastle Uni in 2013. Maybe a connection.

I think there has been a bit of Consolidation in the world of road signs.

Top of the tree.......Hill and Smith Holdings reg office Solihull.

One of their Companies is Mallatite based in Chesterfield, but with facilities in Scotland and Tipton. No mention of Manchester. Mallatite took over Signature who in turn took over Forest City Signs Limited.

I think that Forest City Signs are now long gone, and the relic next to the A1 which proudly bears the name is merely a marker of their long history.

Hands up if you would like a set of most likely pre mid 1960's temporary traffic lights with tripods made by Forest City Manchester. Pre mid 60's possibly because they are only Red and Green. I like the word Stop on the red light.

Well I'm happily chugging away on the Link from Forest City Manchester embossed on that old sign light and have made a little discovery paddling around the SABRE forum Street Furniture Section.

User Nicks Garage who has a few videos on his channel restoring a Forest City Traffic Light, turns out to be related to the founder of the Forest City.
https://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/forum/vi ... y#p1119424
First off I would like to say hi and thanks for accepting me into the forum, I joined because I bought my self an old Forest city temporary traffic light that I have been restoring. My personal connection is that my great great grandfather started forest city back in 1902 and my great grandfather took over the business, I used to go to the factory in Timperley Manchester quite often with my mum,
another contributor asked...
Why did a Stockport firm get called Forest City?
and the answer from Nick's Garage
The firm was from Manchester not Stockport as far as I know, my grandparents, who owned to company lived in Sale, Manchester, the company started in Manchester, then went to Stretford then Timperley.

As far as I know according to my gran my great great grandfather who started the company back in 1902 started it with an American who was from somewhere called Forest City, he didn’t end up staying with the company but the name carried on.
So where is Forest City.....?

Regards Neil

According to Wiki:
"Forest City is a city in Hancock and Winnebago counties in the U.S. state of Iowa, and the county seat of Winnebago County. The population was 4,151 in the 2010 census, a decline from the 4,362 population in 2000."
What's the betting it's full of camper vans? :)
