Hi all,
I posted a couple of weeks ago about the way to solve rattles (sounds like a loose heat shield) on the above mentioned models. If you get a rattle when your decelerating or in low revs (1250 - 2500) your upper engine mount has problems. Because so many Activa owners have this problem (including my wife) I have done some work on this.
Firstly its not a particularly hard job I just did it in 20 minutes with only a 16mm spanner and a new mount (the old ones centre was removed by hand that’s how badly it had failed).
because this is something that needs pictures and is a common problem that seems to hit at around the 8 year mark (mileage doesn’t seem to matter) I will create an article on www.activanet.co.uk under the repair section (which doesn’t exist at the moment).

My Activa does have a slightly metallic rattle that has become more noticeable driving around with the windows open. It seems to co-incide with bumpy roads, might this be the same thing?

This was only replaced fairly recently (29/05/04, 12000 miles ago) and I was led to believe that the noise that makes is quite loud and hard compared to the size of the bush. Could and probably am wrong though.
