Hi all
I am after a bit of advice on Eolys system.
I occasionally get ‘’Risk of particle filter clogging’. Even when driving hard.
Also with Lexia I get
P1490 Fault differential pressure sensor
P1352 Fault Pre Post heating relay
I have replaced the sensor and the relay but the faults come back after clearing.
My additive tank reading with Lexia shows 2194 ml… I removed and checked the tank, It is empty.
I am guessing previous owner had it reset and not actually added any
So my question is are they all related to having no additive in, and can I fill the tank and reset the counter to the correct volume, how do I tell it is starting from zero volume.
Also which additive is the correct one to use.
My VIN Number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
First registered 23/07/2013
The connecters on the additive tank have green bands on
The photo is from the sticker on door pillar but not sure which numbers refer to build date etc
Thanks for reading this long winded story.
Steve

Re: Eolys etc
Ok, so although you have a 2013 model - it is still a DW10BTED4 engine (Euro 5) and despite your build date 13360 (June 10th 2013). This would normally indicate Blue connectors with Powerflex additive, but if you have the green click fit connectors, then it should take Infineum F7795.
You can really ignore the P1352 Glow Plug / Relay fault - that's a common fault on just about every HDi.
As for fault P1490:
This means the request for regeneration is taking part too frequently and is being aborted - this is not surprising as you have no additive in the tank, so there is no assisted regeneration - and this is leading to / will lead to blockage. This fault should clear itself once a regeneration has completed successfully.
The engine ECU is detecting blockage and is requesting regeneration but of course assisted regeneration is not possible without the additive in the system, so only motorway / constant non-stop / start driving is going to allow the exhaust gasses to reach the required 550 °C for natural regeneration to occur, rather than the 450 °C required for assisted regeneration.
So I would limit your driving immediately, as if the filter becomes too blocked (anything over 70%) it may be impossible for a regeneration to occur! That will man a deep clean / filter off situation.

Re: Eolys etc
Thanks for that comprehensive reply, I will refill additive this weekend.
Can I zero the counter and reset with the correct amount that I put in. Also will I need to bleed the air out
Steve
Just been on to my local store website and they recommend Eolys 176, Is this the same stuff
Thanks

Re: Eolys etc
No - no need for anything like that Steve.
Just fill up the tank and then use Diagbox to reset the additive counter. You don't tell it the quantity of fluid added - you just reset the counter to zero.
Annoyingly, because of the stupidity of the last owner, you never got the 'low additive level' warning message - which would of avoided it running out. But you will need to bleed the fuel circuit which is what you would have to do if replacing the additive tank (which is effectively the same as having it run dry). It should then try and add some additive the next time you put fuel in, so I would suggest you don't top the tank up fully - but put in 10 litres or so, then drive about for a bit, then do the same again - in order to trigger that fuel has been put in and to get the pump to inject some additive into the fuel tank. It may take a while for assisted regeneration to take place until there is sufficient additive in the fuel tank.

- Place a draining tray under the engine.
- Open the bleed screw (3).
- Operate the priming pump (14) several times.
- Close the bleed screw (3).

Re: Eolys etc
Eolys 176 was used for second generation systems (which yours is), but was superseded by Infineum F7795. When their stocks of Eolys 176 were used, PSA only supplied Infineum F7795. These are the only 2 fluids of this type that can be mixed together.

Blimey, they must do things differently in France I thought they'd phased out the DW10BTED4 in C5s over here in late 2009/early 2010 ?
Sadly no longer a C5 owner

Hey...nothing wrong with these engines - solid!
Seem to have far less issues than the later DW10CTED4 163 engines with all the extra Euro regs baggage....

More than likely they thought they'd give us the DW10CTED4 engine early so we can do all the beta testing for them
