I've just got the latest edition of Cycling Plus magazine (I don't often buy it) and noticed this picture...

Nice :D A CX surely makes a lovely backdrop and a great bike transporter too, especially in Break form :)

Walking the dog bit of a clatter up ahead, and in a flurry of high viz, an unfortunate cyclist hit the tarmac. Picked himself up and was ok and cycled on.

When I got up there, yes the road was smooth and slippery not obviously icy but just about. Not surprised he went down.

I have photographed the state of the surface on some of the country roads round here, completely smooth in many parts, add a few wet leaves, or like today freezing or close to freezing conditions and its treacherous. Not only for cyclists, this time of year is when the first real freezing conditions are missed catching a lot of people out.

Regards Neil

He was lucky Neil... Pleased he was OK ;)

As one becomes more experienced on a bike one learns to 'read' the road with ever greater degrees of ability...

Wet leaves on a smooth surface ring loud alarm bells. A pile of leaves an even louder one as you have no clue what may be hiding underneath...

Applies equally to running at this time of the year too... A path covered in leaves an conceal anything but usually it's dog poo

Took my old friend to the hairdressers on Tuesday, she stepped out of the car onto some wet leaves in the gutter and fell on her ass, didn't realise how heavy she was until me and the hairdresser lady had to lift her up.

Fortunately no real damage this time, last time she fell it was face down, made a mess of her face and fractured her elbow. :(

Oh good, pleased nothing hurt this time, except pride maybe... Another lucky one :) Did she continue her plans and have her hair done? Hope so as that will have made her feel better :D

I saw a little boy tumble off his bike in the forest today, about 50 yards in front of me...

I sprinted to him but he was fine, he just picked himself up, picked up his bike and carried on... They bounce well at his age... About 5...

As we get older we don't bounce quite as well...

one of my good customers messaged yesterday to see if i fancied a quick loop of the woods as he is struggling with fitness, Woods were absolutely Rammed! surprised the squirrels around the car park could get up the tree's they are So big now!! lots of bikes about wiht littluns which is always good to see, sadly, most parents had costa cup in one hand and phone in the other!!
i do say i have become to enjoy the conditions in the woods this time of year, wet roots covered by leaves ready to catch you out Really up your bike control game!! :-D

The Goodies actually used 3 different 'trandems' during the making of their various series, and they gave a name to one of them. For 3 points - off the top of your head and without looking it up - what name did they give one of their trandems ? :-D
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(
