Peugeot belts part no. help pls.

Post by discv »

I've got to do a cam and auxiliary belt kits change. I'm getting conflicting part no. from the Gates catalogue.

Peugeot 307 SE, manual with A/C. 2003
Vin- VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Engine 1.6 16v petrol TU5 JP4- FX3V2010458.

Please could I have PSA part no. for both complete kits
Many thanks

Ok, so timing:
image_2020-11-04_180926.png
There are 2 kits available and here, I am using the latest replacement parts numbers and not the older original part numbers as these have been superseded.

There is the genuine Citroen Kit and then a cheaper Citroen kit for older cars - so up to you what you want - I have included PSA part numbers and prices for each as of today inc. VAT.

Kit (11) includes: Timing Tensioner roller (7), the Retractor Roller (8) and the Timing Belt (10).

Original Part: 1643637980 £152.35
Cheaper Part: E118433 £87.80

Kit (12) includes all the components in kit (11) and also the Water Pump & Gasket

Original Part: 1643639680 £182.35
Cheaper Part: 1609121280 £123.74

As for the Alternator Belt (which I assume you want too)

Original Part: 5750VT (for 70A, 80A, 80A+ or 90A alternators) £35.66
Cheaper Part: 1612552380 £28.57

Many thanks for this info. It is proving almost impossible to be certain of which is the right kit. It seems that the engine no. has an effect.
I'm taking a punt at a Gates kit KP 25581 XS, which is one of the kits that the Gates catalogue shows up- and the seller- CarParts in Motion guarantee is the correct part.

The timing belt alone for your specific vehicle is part: 9829304780 - I only included the kits as I think that's what you asked for originally. :)

The part numbers are correct for your specific vehicle and build date (18th August 2003). The kits were the same part for your vehicle up to 5th June 2005. Then the kits changed from 6th June 2005 to new part numbers - however as far as the actual timing belt itself goes, it is the same part for all years.

The engines only changed slightly for the different Euro standards and were tweaked for power / emissions most likely.

15581 v 25581.jpg
Perhaps you can see how I'm getting confused!
The attached pic. is lifted from the Gates catalogue, showing the 2 options of cam kits-
KP15581xs [ up to engine 1806404]
and KP25581xs. [from engine 1806405]

My 2003 is showing an engine no. FX3V2010458

It would appear [as you say] that the belt and pump are the same, but it seems that the tensioner pulleys have a difference.

I have ordered 25581- and we shall see!

By the by- my reason for not buying 'genuine' is that I recently fitted a cam kit to my C4GP 1.6 Hdi from a main stealer. The contents of the box was a Gates/Dayco mixture

I can't really help you with aftermarket / other manufacturer catalogues / part numbers as I hope you can appreciate. I'll only provide OEM ones as that guarantees the correct one. But best of luck.
