Re: Mick's Motoring September Stroll
Met Bob for our post Stroll debrief today so I can put right the omission from my last post:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Mick's Motoring September Stroll
So he has!! We both had a soft drink first and then went onto a single pint of Old Speckled Hen to wash down the lunch. He had his pint before me, while I had an ice cream, so I expect they had run out of the labelled ones when I ordered!

Re: Mick's Motoring September Stroll
I had a vague idea that there was a thread with OS maps in it.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑28 Jul 2020, 13:15 I have been doing some work for the Stroll this morning and I have discovered that our route takes us through 35 sheets of the OS Landranger series of maps, my preferred mapping from rallying days. On examining my library of maps I have found that I only have 10 of the required sheets so I'd like to obtain the rest of the sheets required. At £8.99 per sheet that would mean an investment of £224.75. I can, and have, subscribe to the OS to have all the sheets available online or to download previously where a signal may not be available for a mere £25 per annum. I think that is excellent value considering you will always have the most up to date edition of whichever sheet you are using. Having said that if anyone has a copy of any of the sheets listed below which they are happy to loan me for September please PM me and we can arrange return postage etc which I will cover, as I really prefer to have actual maps instead of the laptop to work from. The OS Landranger Map Sheet numbers needed are:
168, 169, 155, 154, 143, 131, 122, 121, 112, 106, 101, 100, 94, 93, 88, 87, 86, 85, 90, 97, 102, 108, 117, 126, 138
Drawn a blank and this is as close as I can find that may be of use to someone.
Allegedly superior to Google maps now.

If you aren't averse to using microsoft's bing search, bing maps come up with an option to show maps as Ordnance Survey on a drop down list from the default roads. I use it frequently, I think it could have been Bobins who pointed it out one time.

You have to be geolocated in the UK to be able to access the OS map alternative on Bing Maps. A VPN might work if you're outside but have never tried it.
