I've got one of those.

Re: Toolbag Tales-Homemade and improvised tools
I have an LED torch which extends and has a magnet on the end as well. It's been a lifesaver a couple of times.
It's not home-made or improvised but works just as it should.

Re: Toolbag Tales-Homemade and improvised tools
That's very similar in looks, certainly the same idea. The barrel that's black in the picture is extruded aluminium on mine and when retracted looks just like a normal LED torch.

No idea where I got mine from, but it has a nice patina, one-end flattened, and I would say just the right length![]()

Re: Toolbag Tales-Homemade and improvised tools
Having been directed to this thread by the esteemed Mr NewcastleFalcon, I thought it's an opportunity to share my Ikea sphere removal tool.
I wanted a light for my pillar drill, so I bought the cheapest desk lamp available at Ikea, the "Lagra", on special offer at a fiver.
The only bit I really needed was the lamp holder and swivel mechanism
Which left me with the base. Well, what can you do with a horseshoe-shaped piece of flat bar ?
