Struggling with any of these numbers, which are not the same format as the current 17-digit VIN.

Googling the issue of H/HY-van VIN, came across this site, which contains all sorts of info on them, and refers to the red and black identification labels you have already discovered, if you scroll down...

They post their results on Glenmarch which is the go to site for all the classic auctions. Has a really good "car search" option where you can pull out any cars/makes you are interested in and see what prices they have realised in the last 5 or more years,
