I wish there was Neil If I had my way, space and money I'd have all the little Citroens right through from the 2CV to the C1 via the LN(A), Visa, AX, Saxo and C1!

A few small Pugs would be in the collection too, that one, a 205 (my all-time favourite Pug) and maybe a 106 too...

A Talbot Samba would be good too!

It's been a good day today... I started off with a run in my special happy place, Salcey Forest, and recorded my best 10K time for a long while

Then I came home and got cracking on Daffodil I started by fixing her door handle knob which had lost a rivet and would not stay put...

The rivet I replaced with a M3 screw which required a thread to be tapped in the knob...

It's good

Next up was the misaligned rear bumper... I removed the bumper...

Then the inner bumper...

No bumper at all...

And found a bent bracket...

A few gentle bending adjustments and the rear bumper is now good and straight

Next up was an ELIT session on her engine ECU... Luckily, I found my two-pin diagnostic cables when tidying up

All is good except the oxygen sensor is a little sluggish... Might have to swap it before the MoT...

Then I gave her an oil and filter change... The filter was TIGHT but gave in to my strap

During all this I did a myriad of small jobs and gave her a very thorough going-over with a fine toothed comb. Apart from a worn RH driveshaft - it clonks a little on taking-up drive and knocks on sharp enthusiastic cornering - she's in remarkably fine fettle

The front wheel bearings are a little tired but not seriously so...

Rust is non-existent That's rare in an AX! Alasdair's past liberal applications of Dinitrol have helped no doubt!

She is running and driving beautifully and I'm very happy with her

Tomorrow her new speakers should arrive and then I can enjoy some audio entertainment again....

Daffodil has today been fitted with a new cambelt The first replacement I believe she's ever had judging by the pristine nature of things down there

SEEM Gauge in use...

I even used my SEEM gauge to check the belt tension!

It's ever such an easy job in an AX but not quite as easy as in the Saxo as space is tighter and the ECU gets in the way...

The tensioner was very rough and well due for renewal...

The hardest job was getting the front wheel off Rust around the centre hole held it fast...

A puller made short work of it and easier than hammering the wheel off

I then saw the front discs and pads are not far off needing replacement... A job I'll do along with wheel bearings and driveshaft before the MoT...

A bit worn!

Looking at the cambelt box I'm amazed at the range of engines that particular belt fits!

Especially the old British Leyland stuff...

I also never knew my favourite bike tyre maker also made cambelts...

Final job before tucking Daffodil up in her garage was to fit her new speakers... Not surprisingly her radio sounds much better now

A very successful day again and one I've thoroughly enjoyed

I love how the cambelt fits loads of small citroens and peugeots which you would kind of expect, then rover 2.0 litre engines which you wouldn't!

I saw someone riding on of these at the weekend, Jim - looks right up your street, a cross between cycling and running!!

Absolutely so It's like using a torque wrench on critical nuts and bolts - it gives peace of mind...

I was truly staggered Davie but what surprises me is it's not for the PSA 2.0 Turbo XU (Activa) engine as they look very similar and length and width...

Spent the day with Robyn... She turned up with a puncture and the offending tyre was both irreparable and illegal! As her MoT is due she elected for four new ones on her C1 as they were all borderline... An expensive day for her...

I did try to comfort her by saying my bike tyres cost comfortably more than her car tyres do!

Whilst her car was being done we walked all around the town in glorious weather as she and her husband are busy house-hunting and she was keen to eyeball as many as she could... We walked not far off 10K!!!

Tomorrow afternoon, after my bike ride with the lads I'll be commencing my big rubbish clear-out now my Hippo Bag has arrived..

Meanwhile Daffodil slumbers in her cosy garage... It's a real precision, but surprisingly easy job to park her despite there being less than an inch clearance all round I even have to chock one of her rear wheels so her rear bumper doesn't touch the garage doors...

It's never really had much use, not least because I don't think it was ever properly set up from day one so the gears have always been a bit twitchy.

Despite that it is great fun to ride and can pick up a fair old lick, when you can become very glad the brakes work well - and then discover the fun that is using the brakes to steer.

The biggest downside of it though is probably just the sheer size of it which makes it feel cumbersome sometimes. Especially as it has the turning circle of the Titanic. Weighs a tonne too though you're less aware of that than I expected unless you're on a long hill when the inability to stand up for extra leverage can be a bit of a liability. I definitely didn't one day get stuck halfway up Beacon Hill when I fouled up finding the right gear...nope...that definitely wasn't me...

I'd love it Neil In fact in the 80s I had two white MG Metros... One I brought home form my tour of duty in Cyprus and the other was a Turbo... The Turbo is one of only two cars I ever deeply regretted selling - the other was my Peugeot 205GTi, despite it being red!

The one Xantia I regret letting go was my white 2.1TD Break...

No cars today, it's been my weekly cycle out with the lads We thought it might be our last for a while, depending upon government edicts, and given the gorgeous weather, we made the most of it

I also have a new trisuit that fits me like a skinsuit A trisuit is used for triathlon events and is good to swim, run and cycle in. I use mine for duathlons which omit the swim but add an additional run... My favourite variety is a duathlon that comprises a 10K run, a 40K bike ride and a 5K run...

We went to an excellent cafe today in the village of Sharnbrook in Bedfordshire not far off the A6. Although their menu had no suitable vegan and soya-free items the cafe went an extra few miles to go off-menu and prepare me a delicious vegan soya-free cheese and onion toastie Most excellent service and nothing was too much trouble...
