Had a look and The Whitley Bay Beefeater looks a good possibility. The 1910 Restaurant is outrageous pricing, £30 for a sirloin steak is a ripoff in my view. It's only £20 for a fillet in the Beefeater which is much more like it. If that's ok with you I'll book a table for 7.30? :-D

James, have you decided on a pub in Henley where we can grab a pie and a pint on 17th? I think it is wise to book tables at the moment so let me have your thoughts, and Michel if you are following this are you joining us? :-D

I have been working on route plotting all day and I have had to make some more adjustments. Because the original trip started on a Monday the first port of call was to be the garage in Westleton where I want to recreate the painting by numbers set I have using the C5. Alas the garage won't be open on Sunday so it is fairly pointless going there. Hence the first port of call will now be Ely and then on up to the Humber Bridge via Kings Lynn and Lincoln. Thus the new itinerary looks like this:

Oh I do love a nice OS Map :D I make huge use of OS Maps online for planning bike rides...

Not only that, I just love looking at maps and favour doing so over reading a book on occasion. I can spend hours lost in maps...

You and me both Jim, far more to be learned than most people realise! Had my grounding in my rallying days and loved them ever since. I could obviously complete the Stroll just using Satnav but that just wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun!! :-D

If at first you don't succeed - Cheat!

I was proud of myself today, didn't dig the satnav out.

I made it to my destination and home. I couldn't claim it went well though.

Much to my wife's displeasure ("You've got new ones. What do you need the old ones for?") I like to keep all my old maps. Going back to the old 1" series and a few 1/4" in fact. I'll quite easily open up a map or atlas and just look at the pages. Lovely!
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

I've used the Old-maps.co.uk website a few times to find the locations of old AA and RAC roadside callboxes. I find it's far too easy to spend ages looking at old OS and Bartholomews maps :)

Unbelievable fact number one for the Stroll story. I contacted my insurance this morning to add Bob to the policy for the week and they sent me a quote:

Addition of one driver as detailed for 13-18th September £0.00

Administration charge £0.00

Total Cost £0.00 :bd: :bd: :bd: :bd: :bd:
