Not all the issues are the same, but this is one of the problems as there is no hard drive in these. Replacing the Micro SD card is an option for some issues and where this is appropriate, is cheaper than sending it off for a repair. The RT units are generally very good, but the RT6 seems to have been far more problematic than any of its predecessors.

Hi I have the same problem with my rt6 1612068880 Citroen want £1000 +. Not paying that. I tried clarion as some people have suggested but they will not deal with public they will only deal with the main dealers. I just want a radio 🤣🙈.

Check out the post here if you haven't already - Autotronics have a good reputation for repairing these units with a relatively quick turnarround.

Just got my RT6 back from clarion and just fitted it to my ds5. It was away for about four weeks to get refurbished it cost £595 they send a courier to collect it and post it back to you. Everything is working fine. I thought about buying a used one but you don't know what you would be getting.

Did you have to arrange the repair via Citroen then? Although Clarion did repair these for end users , all indications are that they signed an agreement with PSA to refurbish them - but only via the dealer network - so unless that has changed...

No I just phoned them during lockdown so had to wait a while then emailed them direct and organised it with them. Then they phoned me for payment before it was collected

That's good to know - maybe the agreement has finished with the older systems then. I already put them up as a repairer on the telematics section:

So useful to know they are accepting repairs direct from the public. Thanks for the update.

The solution is either a new SD card or if that doesn't solve it a repair or replacement.

Hi Guys,

I got the software update to hopefully solve the intermittent black screen issue, but unfortunately attempted to install before finding this forum and so did not change the SD card. Everything seemed to go fine until after it restarted and showed the about checking MEDIA with the ! symbol. Also a constant beeping which only stops with ignition off.
Any ideas ? It looks like the update has gone in and the screen and controls seems to be working fine.

Hi all,

Unsure if right place but need some advice-

I have a citroen ds5 2013 sat nav emyway r neg v2.77 a.2

On screen message - please insert navagation cd then changes to check in progress

If i update to latest 2021 version (nit yet purchased) I believe this comes on a usb stick not a cd?

Can usb be placed in center console or do I need a cd. As no clear usb port on main unit

In addition currently under the vin code entry (on screen) the map update box is greyed out and therefore can not be selected.

Many thanks of anyone can help

Yes map updates are completed and supplied via USB now. However is seems from the above that your current map data has become corrupted, which can happen when an update is interrupted or if the internal microSD card is on the fritz. These units don't have a Hard Disk, they use a flash memory to store the operating system, navigation, vehicle configuration and user data files on.

You can try reinstalling your map data from your original source again. Activation files are normally uniquely generated and supplied with the USB key, so if detected when updating, it shouldn't ask for a key.

I wonder if there has been a solution posted as I can’t seem to find one and my is doing exactly the same thing I have taken it to a Citroen specialist in my area but they are unsure what to do as they haven’t seen the problem before. I wondered if the unit could be removed and a generic one fitted I loved my DS5 unit this issue.

Not really on a DS5 as the head unit is fixed behind the fascia and t he audio controls are integrated into the centre console as part of the whole console fascia and there will be a rotary control in the central binnacle area for the Sat Nav and phone.

You haven't explained your problem, but there is plenty of topics here about RT6 problems, you just need to search in the RT6 Forum, including a guide on replacing the internal MicroSD card if this is causing the issues which are quite common after several years as they start to fail.

Citroen do not get involved locally with any repairs to the system. They will sell you a new one or they will arrange to have it sent off to Clarion.

Info on Clarion who do most of the repairs:

https://www.reparlab.com/en/toutes-les- ... -rneg2-25/

You can see what I mean here, on how awkward it is to remove and this chap replaced the MicroSD card as I mentioned. Whilst I don't approve of his removal 'tools' you can see what needs to be done to remove the unit.

As said, most of the issues are due to the failure of the internal Flash card. But read the main guide I put together first of all as it contains everything you need to do the operation, including how to copy and later restore your vehicle configuration files after the upgrade to ensure the system retains the options, language and other features.
