You may have a faulty lamp switch:

3105 is the lamp switch unit. It's got a 2 pin connection - earth and power. The power is controlled from the BSI. So check the wiring connections and secondly, clean up and check the contacts where the tailgate closes and makes contact with the boot area. Normally you should have some metal contacts near the locking mechanism that can become dirty or oily and this can prevent the circuit from completing when the tailgate is shut.

Yes, on saloon models, that's where the trunk light is. But the contact plate is usually near where the tailgate / boot lock engages in the middle.

If the engine is running and all the other doors are closed does the light stay on even then? Bear in mind there may be a time delay.
If you open the boot with the engine running does the display tell you the boot has been opened?
If there was a problem with the boot switch I expect it would keep telling you the boot was open all the time & you would have problems when you tried to lock the car.
