Fault Code P2565' 'turbo valve position copy signal'

Post by richieboy007 »

Have just had this checked by a Citroen specialist with all the correct diagnostic kit and they have told me that the Exhaust gas unit and valve causing the issue is attached to the turbo unit and not accessible without replacing the whole turbo at a cost in excess of the car's worth.

Has anyone had this problem and is there a way around it, other than replacing the turbo? If not, it will be time to retire her to the scrap heap which is a shame as it's otherwise a really good car.

It's a C5 diesel estate on a 56 plate

Fingers crossed

Thanks guys

Re: Depollution fault

Post by richieboy007 »

Just picked it up. The actual fault code is a 'P2565' 'turbo valve position copy signal'

Has anyone had one of these and is it terminal?

I'm assuming this is a DW10BTED4 engine? Pop your VIN up so I can confirm.

If it is and it's the EGR they are on about, it will be the EGR valve and cooler unit, but there's no mention of the turbo at all during replacement according to my notes. Replacement of EGR is about 1.40 hours labour time.

The EGR is attached to the EGR cooler unit, so these come off as one unit and are separated on the bench. The system coolant has to be drained first and refilled / bled after replacement of course.

Re: Depollution fault

Post by GiveMeABreak »

Fault code: P2565 - Turbocharger position copy signal - Voltage above the maximum threshold. Voltage higher than 4.95 V for more than 500 ms.

Conditions of disappearance of the fault: Ignition on
Down-grade modes if fault present: Torque limitation for traction control; Deactivation speed limiter until the next time the ignition is switched on; Deactivation cruise control until the next time the ignition is switched on; The ECU stops the regulation of the EGR valve.

Warning lamp will light when fault is active.

Symptoms: Noise, Diesel fuel consumption a bit higher, Lack of power

Suspect areas: Turbocharger position copy sensor, Electrical harness or Connector.

Ok, so now we have the fault code, that's not the EGR, but the turbo copy position sensor. I would be suspecting the sensor or an electrical fault as it's over threshold.

Where did you get the car checked (if you don't mind me asking)?

This is the circuit and you can see that item (9) is the pneumatic capsule for the pressure regulator control arm and (8) is the Turbo Copy Position Sensor.

Now there was a replacement control capsule kit for this as seen below - but Citroen no longer sell them. You can get these elsewhere like here:

Or you can just buy the sensor itself - here:

https://www.eurocarcare.net/fuel-manage ... ensor.html

Although they are out of stock at present - but they are available. Quality can be an issue -so beware of really cheap ones.

But at least you can check the wiring connections now you know what you're looking for.

Thank you very much for all of this Marc. It's beyond my mechanical capabilities. Anyone know someone who can help around Hampshire/Berkshire area please??

This is what they put on the receipt. I noted also a 'short circuit to positive or earth'

I didn't really feel that confident that it was thoroughly diagnosed for a 'specialist' Citroen centre. :|

I'm in the wrong business! £50 a pop for plugging in a code reader!

I don't know how they can suspect the turbo on that alone! They didn't even mention checking the Turbo copy position sensor....

I have used PTS Development in the past, and I will continue to use them. A Father/Son outfit (Father has retired, and will only make an occasional appearance) that has over forty years Citroen experience. They are based near Wokingham.
