My second Citroen - C1 Flair Puretech

Next job :
Wheels bolts rusty after 4 years !
Rusty - blaster, cadmium plating = after how many years I will need to do again ?

How much did the plating cost? How difficult was it to find someone to do it?
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Boot light !
At beginning I suppose it is easy to install only light in boot / luggage. But it was a little more complicated. Turning on / off light you need switch in boot lock or to install supplemental switch ( look not so nice ). Another option - motion sensor ( but take some power from battery ).
So my option was to go more like original and = I bought boot lamp, button / switch, electrical lock.
Installing was easy but electrical not finished yet. I don't have on rear of the car 12V after opening front doors :-(. I don't have third button on remote.
So I bought active City Brake switch ( change with the fake cover from my car ). Now opening boot it is made from this switch. In future I will connect to original switch on rear of the car ( no diagram !) .
Finally I have light in boot and I will see evening / night what I have there :-)

Rear window heater :
Two times I forgot switch ON and after returning to the car and turn on engine - switch remain in the same position - ON !
I don't want to make changes in all the car. So all are inside manual clima box.
Heater switch - I take out from inside switch blocking pin. Now it work only like momentary push button. From this switch timer begun to count. It is installed on 14 min. It is perfect. In this time if you turn OFF engine and again ON timer will be OFF. Happy ! If I want to turn off timer before 14 min I use left switch ( Clima ).i If you push a little this switch inside contact deactivate 12V power for timer.
If somebody want I can draw a diagram for this.
Don't be scared about wires. There are couple. But all are inside Clima box. I bought one cheap box from e-bay with two broken legs ( I repair it ). For testing.
2 inside bulbs B8.5D was changed to LED Cree.
Timer is digital, cheap - e-bay, 2 relays I found in my drawers.

You do realise that the rear demist system is on a timed operation? It will switch off after a certain time automatically.

Second, if you leave the rear demister switched on and lock the car, then return later and start the car, yes, it will continue to operate again once you start the engine - but only for the duration of the timed operation - and will switch off again when it has reached the timed limit.

The system only operates when the engine is actually running - so no drain on the battery until the car is running. I'm not sure why this was necessary to be honest Mike :?: :-D

It is certainly not recommended (for the benefit of anyone else reading this) to make any modifications like this, especially for diesel vehicle owners, as the Heated Rear Demister can be activated by the BSI to assist with the DPF regeneration (by switching on current consuming devices) to help with getting the engine up to temperature more rapidly. If this was manually switched off, then the BSI could not command the demister to activate in these circumstances and this could delay regeneration.

'cos Cadmium is pretty nasty stuff. I come across it occasionally in old sites I visit for survey and conservation work - the general idea is that you don't disturb nor handle anything you think might contain old Cadmium 8-[

Indeed. Years ago now but I recall that they had to change all the taps in Swedish hospitals as they were made from an alloy containing Cadmium that leached into the water. An extreme reaction probably but better safe than sorry.

I remember, years ago, a friend of mine buying several reels of tin/lead solder (from a stall at a radio rally), and being told (by a suit nearby) that that stuff was going to be made illegal. My friend responded that he was aware of this, but it was not illegal now, and that he would probably use this lot within a year or so. The suit kept on 'pushing' that tin/lead solder was going to be illegal. My friend asked him if there were any alternatives being looked at. The suit had a few suggestions, but one caught my friends' attention. He asked if it were possible for the suits' people to supply suitable hazardous material protection if he were to want to use THAT option, and the suit responded that it should not be required. My friend was not very complementary about the suit at this point. Mind you, I don't blame him, as the suggestion that caught his attention was one with cadmium in it!

In February, March i saw on my route ¬ 22 miles / 50 minutes, rear heater remain on ON position ( amber light and feel warm ext mirror ).
I suppose C1 because it is cheap car this option it is not included.
On My C3 Picasso there is :-)

Must be! That's probably the Toyota influence in it then as every Citroen I've owned since 1999 has had a timed heated rear window control - seems 1 step forward and 10 backwards! :-D

I found wire from manual clima control switch directly to power relay ( 4 relay panel installed only 3 on back of control clima ).

For that reason I bought Puretech Flair edition to have a little more options :-D

I don't find wiring diagram for my Citroen C1 MK2 but I found for Toyota Aygo ( 2014 - 2018 ).
It is near the same :)
