All being well I'll be available for the morning as well and can show you around a bit.

That will be brilliant Paul!! We can always leave Blackpool earlier to meet up wherever you think would be best. :-D

After discussion it looks like we will be in Chester-le-Street for our overnight in the Newcastle area, assuming we can book the hotel, (The Lambton Worm now booked) so it would be great if we could meet up for evening revelry and Beamish is also on the cards for the afternoon. Where would suit you best Steve? :)

That is really difficult as I don't do revelry - terminally boring unfortunately. Can't do pubs, restaurants etc. Will have to have a think on that.
Have no idea what café's are like these days. Nothing much seemed to be open in Birtley - just up the road from the Worm.
Last time I was in a café was a couple of years ago when my daughter bought her Mégane in Newcastle and we waited for the evening rush to clear. Vegan place I don't even know the name of.

Following today's lunch meeting I am afraid I have to change the dates again. It will now happen 1 week earlier than the last plan so that means Day 1 will be Sunday 13th September. This is a definite final change and I can now cancel the one hotel booking I had made and make four new ones.

In view of Steve not wanting to join in our evening revelry on day 2 it does allow me to book a hotel/pub which is more convenient for Neil's travel.
I am looking around at those to the north of Newcastle.

Perhaps Steve, you could join us at Beamish for a stroll round and maybe afternoon tea on 14th September?

It was in the original 4 day March Meander schedule Steve, but the Stroll schedule means we will be in the Northeast overnight rather than at lunchtime. :)

Mick have a look at the Sea hotel again right down the front at South Shields 2 single rooms would be £60 each inc breakfast. Otherwise have a look round say tynemouth/ cullercoats or whitley bay. If you are heading on west to hadrians wall area up the A19 to Seaton Burn Holiday Inn would have you in the right place for the next day. just a short hop down the A1 and onto the A69 westbound to Corbridge and up onto the military road by the wall.

The coastal locations have more interest. There is a Premier inn at the Moor Farm Roundabout NE23 7QA but its probably a fairly anonymous Premier Inn/ Pub Next Door sort of location although that Willow Farm Pub does do a good carvery on a sunday and maybe during the week too.

Not keen on the mediterranean menu at the sea hotel Neil, I like the sound of Whitley Bay, I remember my sister used to go there for Saturdays when she was training at Alnwick. So I've booked Cara's guest house and we just need to find a pub for dinner and revelry!! :-D

If I've worked it out properly, day 4 when you're due in Liverpool is Wednesday 16th and I should be OK for that.
