C5 does not drive properly

Post by zeeshanzaki »

My C5 V6 01 is not driving smooth anymore since a month now. I lost two coils in a week whenever I tried to drive the car in sports mode. Sometimes rpm does not go over 2000rpm in normal drive mode, but when I switch to manual and driven in first gear it works normal. Rpm fluctuate little bit when idle and exhaust does not sound normal. So I plugged the lexia first time to find out what causing the issue and it gives attached error message under injector and bsi. It also reported error in other section like aircon.

BSI Errors:
Permanent fault: Wheel emitter 1 battery worn
Permanent fault: Wheel emitter 2 battery worn

Injector Errors:
Permanent fault: Accelerator pedal signal 1 coherence
Permanent fault: Accelerator pedal signal 1 short circuit to position or open circuit
Intermittent fault: Catalyst converter ageing (rear pre-cat) - This has been there for more than 1 year now.

I had the pedal sensor error first time came up last year when the floor mate slide under the pedal. I cleared error code using generic obd scanner at that time.
Is the issue related to pre-cat ageing or something else is also causing this issue.

I reset the BSI but it still does not drive smoothly.

The first 2 are telling you that 2 of the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Sensor batteries are wearing out. The batteries are not replaceable and are designed to last the life of the sensor (about 10 years), so if these are original you have done well out of them.

As for the accelerator pedal - you'll have one of 2 options fitted. You will either have an accelerator pedal with throttle position sensor built into the pedal or the versions where the accelerator pedal operates a mechanical wire to the throttle potentiometer in the engine bay. Either way, it thinks there is a problem with the sensor or the circuit.

The batteries aren't officially replaceable. It depends on how dirty you want to get with the sensors.

If it does not cause any issue, i can ignore it.

I suppose that depends on whether your annual vehicle test (you do have them?) includes the valves or not. And whether any error messages on the dash are a fail.

Things have tightened up in the UK and now any error or warning light is a fail. You can't even turn them off on later cars (about 2011 on I think) as having a warning system for tyre deflation is now a legal requirement.
