Identifying Driveshaft

Post by EJAP »

Hello.

Can anyone assist in helping me identifying the driveshaft on my C5. There are no labels on the shafts as mentioned in the workshop manual. So can this be found by VIN? Which is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Probably one for Marc who is by far one of the most helpful person I've come across.

Thanks

It might help to say which driveshaft you are after (L/H or R/H) to narrow it down. Saying that, Marc will probably post up the full details of both, including the prices Citroen charge for them.

Good point. Its Left hand side. The threads got damaged during a spring and shock replacement and if I cannot get the nut on I might have to get a new CV joint. If I can.....

Here you go:
X7 Driveshafts.PNG
Left hand side is Item (1)

Part number: 3272SE for a brand new one, cost £504.82
Part number: 3272SF for an exchange unit, cost £299.80

There is a refundable surcharge deposit on both these once they have your old one back of £133.92

All prices inc. VAT.

But at least you have the parts for an aftermarket search if necessary.

I bought driveshafts from this guy on Ebay. Good price and seem good quality.

There was a slight hiccup with my order but the guy bent over backwards to help. I thoroughly recommend him, based on my experience (no connection other than as a customer !)

Julian, thanks for that. Ive been buying stuff from buycarparts.co.uk in Berlin. They prove to be very reasonable on price. No way would I pay Citroen prices for a car from 2008. It would soon become more valuable in parts than a car!! :-D

Very true !

I had a problem while I was on holiday in the South of France last year. Thanks to advice on here I was able to pin the problem down to the OAP (Overunning Alternator Pulley).

From Citroen I'd have had to buy a complete alternator at about 500 or 600 pounds. Via one of the German suppliers I got the pulley for about £30, and it was from the original manufacturer :)

Cheers

Citroen never sell separate CV joints, so you can't tell from the drawing, or the part nos, which shafts are fitted - and I've no idea if you can tell which is which when the labels have fallen off! I suspect if you unclip the outer end of the CV boot, it might be come obvious if a removable type of joint is fitted - or it might not! Unless you've totally mashed the the thread, it should be recoverable with some careful filing or by running a die down it - if you can work out what the thread is!

I hope Marc will be able to pick up on this post.

Marc, could I possibly trouble you for the part numbers for the driveshafts on my car and can you tell me if they are the same on my 173hp Twin Turbo as they are on the V6 version (sadly not sold in the uk !)

Cheers
