Peugeot 3008 2010 MyWay RNEG issues

Post by JottaD »

Hi I´m having some issues with myway, most of the time he lost position on the map, when I start the car is working ok but after some minutes it lost position. Sometimes it shows that I´m driving in the Fjord.... :rofl2:
My firmware version is the last one and I have the latest maps.
Can someone help me to solve this issue?
I noticed when I start the car I can see on the bottom left corner the icon that looks like a road and the TMC on after some meters driving the road icon turns off and only TMC keeps on. Don´t know if its normal but all the videos that I see have both icons on.

Thanks in advance

This is likely to be because of the GPS Week Number Rollover Issue.

When the rollover happened on April 6th 2019, older devices may reset their date, potentially corrupting navigation data and throwing off location estimates. GPS relies on precise timing data to operate, and each nanosecond the clock is out translates into a foot of location error.

Maybe you hadn't noticed before - but check the following as this is the only way to correct the problem on these units as there is no later firmware to fix it:

Go into the 'Time and Date' settings menu of the MyWay and ensure that the 'Synchronise with GPS' option is not ticked.

Go for another drive - it may take 15 minutes of driving for the GPS to geolocate itself correctly - waiting in a static position won't work - the car has to be moving for the satellites to lock on again.

Thanks @GiveMeABreak
I have already have the synchronise with GPS option not ticked, maybe there is something more that I can do?

Regarding the Map icon on the bottom left corner?

Ok, in that case check how many satellites you have visible - a low number of these will affect accuracy which if getting progressively worse may indicate GPS aerial problem.

This can be tested if you buy a cheap chinese GPS aerial with a FAKRA connection and plug it in directly into the back of the head unit in place of the GPS aerial. Go for a brief drive and if the satellite numbers improves and the accuracy, then you know that is the problem.

As for the TMC information, there are 3 icon modes:
TMC.PNG
1) No TMC Station available

2) TMC Station available, but no message en route

3) TMC Station available and messages en route activated (only when guidance is active)

Thanks Marc, but how can I check how many satellites I have visible?

Regarding the TMC now all makes sense to me
"... Norway switched to DAB and digital radio in 2017, the RDS-TMC services are closed. Location Table is still in use in navigation devices and traffic-solutions..."
Sry I´m noob with this

No problem, you need a minimum of 4 satellites for the system to work properly - the more the better though, To check, make a long press on the MENU button, then select AUDIO/TELEPHONE DIAGNOSTICS, then GPS COVERAGE. This should tell you how many there are. But you will need to have started the car and allowed the system to initialise for a few minutes.

Did you get this sorted? Having exactly the same issues, with probably excactly the same car, year, model.
Wondering what kind of tool to use to get the unit out of the dash/console to access the fakra connector on the back. Seems to be 4 flat tools. Also, did you get a GPS antenna replacement?

You'll need a set of these top remove the RNEG units. Cheap enough on ebay. (https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/382262018402?c ... gKis_D_BwE)

Hi, all, I'm new on here and hopefully someone can help with the "Fakra Connectors", So the diagram of the rear of the head unit as shown by 'GiveMeABreak' is showing "b" as the GPS antenna!
Maybe 'GiveMeABreak' can tell me what connects to "a" on the diagram and what connects to "e" on the diagram? and if I may need any adaptors.
I am hoping to install an after market unit specifically made for the 2010 Peugeot 3008 with Plug & Play connector but I still need to connect the 3 Fakra connectors to the appropriate connections.

Many Thanks in Advance

Mat

'a' is the FM2 Aerial (not used on this unit)
'e' is the FM1 / AM aerial.

Thank you so much! However "a" on my unit has fakra connection but like you said it may well be that having the connection doesn't mean it's being used. So my understanding is that "a" can be left disconnected, am I correct. Secondly if you can advice, my after market unit obviously doesn't have male fakra connections so I do need some sort of adaptors and will using them make the unit work?? Again Thank very much

The reason for the different aerials is that some models like the RT6 and the NG4 have dual tuner systems. This basically means on those systems that 1 FM channel provides the signal for the current station and also for the AM signal, whilst the second FM aerial is used to constantly monitor the frequencies to select the best signal and can switch over. So if your aftermarket system only has one FM port, plug aerial that is currently in connector 'e' into the aerial socket on your new unit.

Of course you will need a FAKRA to aerial converter like this:
