Hi,
My 2007 GP HDI 2.0 has been off the road for a while. I have done all sorts of works including working around the BSI unit. I'm wondering if I've managed to unplug or disturb the antenna in the steering column that detects the key fob.
I'm aware that the key can lose it's coding but I want to check this first. Nothing responds from the key. The doors don't lock or unlock.
It has a new battery in it.
I do have one wire unplugged with a blue plug but i can't see anywhere for it to go and I assume its not used and is on a generic loom.
I assume the antenna plugs in somewhere in the vicinity of the BSI? If so what colour plug would it be and where would it plug in?
I want to eliminate this as a possibility before messing about with coding etc.
The car turns over but does not start.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Where does key transponder aerial pug in?
It sounds like the Engine ECU is locked then.
The transponder coil is integral to the ignition barrel. It is operated by the switch module inside the steering wheel, and from here the data is sent via the CAN network to the BSI which exchanges info with the Engine ECU for authentication and handshaking purposes and back again.
It won't have lost its coding, but may need resynchronising.
Take the key out of the ignition so the transponder aerial does not pick up the chip in the fob.
Wait 5 minutes (in case of constantly trying to start and anti scanning mode is active)
Put the key in the ignition and turn ignition on
within 10 seconds press the lock button on the fob - that's press it within 10 seconds not hold it for 10 seconds.
Remove the key from the ignition
Try and lock / unlock the doors
Start the engine.
If it's not starting now, then further investigation is needed.
When you were working around the BSI or any electrics, I hope you disconnected the battery first and followed the procedure:
BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

Re: Where does key transponder aerial pug in?
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I've tried the reset procedure with no luck. That's one reson why I want to check the wiring in the BSI area.
I did follow the correct procedure.
Looks like more detective work is needed.
Thanks
Keith

Check your vehicle battery is well charged - poor car batteries cause lots of issues. Not sure when you said it has a new battery in it whether you are referring to the fob or the car..

Hi Marc,
Both the fob and car battery are new and the car battery is well charged.
The problems started just after I worked in the bsi area.
Diagbox says that the ECU is locked.

Re: Where does key transponder aerial pug in?
So what did you do exactly in the BSI area? Did you pull and replace any fuses, connectors?
Assume you have Diagbox if the engine is locked, but are there any fault codes after the running a Global Test?

Re: Where does key transponder aerial pug in?
I pulled connectors and removed it as I was trying to trace faults. The plugs are in their right place as I took a photo before reassembly. I've removed it again today to see if I can see any spare sockets but I feel that the plug that is there is redundant and just part of a standard loom.
I replaced it today and I waited at least fifteen minutes before reconnecting the battery. Now no ignition light so I think (hope) I've blown a fuse. This is a car that every single job I do something else goes wrong. I'm really at the end of my tether TBH.
I'd like to thank you for he help that you're giving me.

Re: Where does key transponder aerial pug in?
Here is a diagram of your BSI and the fuses. I can't help with the relays as these are integral, but it may also be worth checking the supply to the BSI - Engine Fusebox and also the supplies control unit.
This first is the diagram for the connectors on the BSI and the table below the Key, followed by the BSI Fuses in the second diagram.

Thank you very much. I'll look into that.
