Has anyone got info on changing oil and filter on this car such as does under tray have to be taken off or is there a small cover to get at sump plug and I expect the service time has to be reset with diagbox so makes it a dealer job again also what is the nearest other car that resembles this car that I could get service maintenance info to tackle other what used to be Diy jobs any info gratefully received thanks

I assume you are talking about engine oil as you've mentioned the filter - no, you can reset the service counter yourself - it's in the manual and you don't need Diagbox - unless you are talking about the Auto gearbox oil?

Be aware though depending on your vehicle, other operations are expected to be checked like the Adblue (if fitted). But to reset if you don't have the manual or can't be bothered to read it is:

• Switch off the ignition,
• Press and hold the ".../000" trip distance recorder zero reset button,
  

  

• Switch on the ignition; the distance recorder display begins a countdown,
• When the screen indicates "=/0" and the spanner disappears, release the button.

Thanks again Marc I am under the impression that it has to be done with diag box to put the ad blue in sequence with the service time as ad blue is normally refilled at ervice time but relies on the ecu to calculate the amount used any info on what similar in Citroen DS range close to ds4 service maintenance day jobs thanks again john

Hi John, the Adblue system has a warning of its own. It will tell you when it needs topping up and this is a consumer level operation like filling up your screenwash. The tank is about 17 litres capacity and gives you about a 12,500 mile range. After the initial alert. you will have about 1,500 miles before Armageddon strikes and the countdown before immobilisation begins.

Of course Citroen will top the system up at each scheduled service for you - and charge the earth for it of course - so just keep it topped up yourself and there is no resetting to be done.

It does calculate the mileage to the next scheduled service and what it thinks you will get from the current level of Adblue in the tank before flashing the warnings, so no need to do anything as long as you keep it topped up.

Assuming that the DS4 is the same as our 308 you're partly correct.

The Adblue is part of the service and is filled up (the dealers actually evacuate what is there and then fill with a measured amount) but the level isn't a calculation, it's actually measured as it's possible (quite probable in fact) to use all of the tank up before servicing again. In that case a message pops up saying the Adblue needs topping up and that you have a certain number of miles (700, 1700 can't remember exactly) to do it in otherwise the engine will not be allowed to start.

Once the Adblue is topped up the message will disappear immediately or after a few engine restarts. IIRC the Adblue tank is 17l capacity so a 10l refill bottle is a handy amount.

No Paul- you have misunderstood me again.

I said that the system looks to the distance remaining to the next scheduled service (as per the maintenance indicator) and then looks to see what is left in the Adblue tank before determining whether the driver needs to be alerted to top it up, when the miles remaining to the next service would exceed the mileage remaining based on the level of Adblue in the tank.

So basically topping it up yourself at regular intervals is the best way to go unless you regularly go to a main dealer.

By 'calculation' I was referring to the interaction between the servicing interval miles to go and quantity remaining in the tank. Nothing partially right about it - that's how it works.
