C4 Electrical Problems

Post by NickyC4Loeb »

Hi all,
I am finishing off a refurbishment of my 2008 C4 by Loeb and am down to 2 x electrical issues to sort out.

1 :- After start-up the system check puts up a "Braking system faulty" message. Using Diagbox it says the ABS ECU has a permanent fault. Using Lexia to dig deeper it has a fault message saying "under/over voltage to ABS ECU".

2 :- A/C clutch does not pull in when A/C switched on. I read on this forum that the cooling fans have to start before this can happen, they don't come on for me.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for these systems or the whole car?

VIN number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Many thanks in advance,
Nicky.

Does the car have ESP? What is the RP number? This is the one circled below on the tyre pressure label.

I'm not sure about the ESP.

Just had a look and there is no ESP deactivation switch. So I presume no ESP.

Im guessing the last 2 digits of the RP number are wrong? should be 2 letters at the end.
ABS diagram attatched
The ABS ECU is component no 7020.
As for the other problem, The cooling fans normally cut in a few seconds after the AC clutch. Have you had the refrigerant pressure checked? If the system is empty or low this will stop the clutch from engaging.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and diagram.

Can't get the pressure checked at present, will do as soon as possible.

RP number is right.

88 is the factory ID for Mulhouse I believe. The list of factory ID codes in the Wiki is incomplete. I suspect that it leaves out Peugeot ones and I'm not sure where DS fits now.

EDIT
Wow, I found what claims to be a complete list of factory codes for Citroen. Any chance that the Wiki could be amended suitably?

Strange, I've only ever seen letters as the factory codes.

There's a typo in the Wiki, Aulnay sois Bois should be Aulnay sous Bois.

For the A/C problem, you should be able to get some clues looking at the live data in diagbox, which will tell you the status of each sensor and control.
