particle filter additive too low 2010 3008
Hi all, just joined.
Just got the error message above tonight,
from reading through the forum it seems its either a bag or a tank, is there any easy way of telling, and are they easy to refill? (The engibe fault appeared at the same time so presume its that)
I also think the ECU needs resetting using Diagbox, would a snapon diagnostic kit do this or only Diagbox does anyone know? I have access to a Snapon one, but would have to buy Diagbox/Lexia. I was thinking of doing that anyway as I think one of the injectors is on its way out, are the kits from Ebay ok to use? I looked at EasyDiagnostics but they aren't selling cables at the moment, and the software isn't much use without one .
As the warning has just came on, I presume it will be ok to use for now, especially as I'm only doing about 50 miles a week?
How good will Diagbox be for diagnosing the injector problem? Is it easy enough to use? Or is there anyone local to me who has it and could diagnose the problem (and reset the additive counter at the same time)?

Hi Colin.
Diagbox and the VCI hardware are used exclusively by PSA for all their vehicles. Some professional level diagnostics should be able to reset the Additive Counter - as long as they are able to talk to your 3008 and have the correct capabilities.
Watch out for cheap units on ebay - many of these are not likely to have the full chips and other components on the boards, so have issues talking to full CAN vehicles and that will be a waste of time. Get a full chip, revision C kit.
Your engine diagnostic light will very likely be referring to the additive warning.
The additive levels are not physically measured, but are estimated. It works out the distance remaining before the vehicle is due to be serviced from your maintenance counter and if it thinks there is insufficient additive before maintenance, it will put the light up as a warning.
You can continue to use it for now, but be wary. When you get the next warning it will be the risk of clogging or similar - this is when regenerations are not happening and the clogging will get worse, to the point where it can't regenerate any more and will have to come off for a deep clean.
Here's a post with members willing to help and a link to a Google map at the end showing their locations. Bear in mind this is unlikely to happen presently given lockdown tough.

The SnapOn kit can do quite a bit, read my parking sensor fault which the cheap ones, and a couple of quite expensive ones didn't, so hopefully it can do it, but will be next week before I can get it plugged in to find out. Easy Diagnostics kit is well worth considering (I have an earlier version). They have the full opto coupler set (which some of the cheaper clones don't), so should work with most PSA vehicles. There is a procedure whereby forum members can get a discount;

That will depend on model, year and engine. Your VIN will let us know which type you need. If a bag - don't bother trying to refill as it is messy and the liquid is highly toxic and carcinogenic. The refill pouches just go in and job done after the reset. If a tank, then you don't need a ramp, but you'll need to gravity feed it from the filling kit - just be supporting the bottle on a stand or similar. Your build date is 12519, so you should have blue click fit connectors on your additive tank. You need to use Powerflex additive for this build date, not infineum F7995 or Eolys 176.

I would not get anything unbranded - it looks like that seller is filling bottles themselves - you don't know what you are getting - avoid!
If going for the Walker alternative that is cheaper than the OEM stuff, you need Walker 80620: Here's a 3 litre kit. It's from Poland, and includes free postage. The OEM stuff will be about £180+, but the walker here is £107

Powerflex is the correct additive for your build date. If you attempt to put the older additives in, you will very soon brick the additive system as the older DPX42, Eolys 176 and Infineum F7995 are not interchangeable with Powerflex.
The click-fit connectors are / were coloured - but this is unreliable due to production switch over to other systems - so always go by the build date and this is correct for your VIN.
