Citroen C4 VTS - Stripping front seat - removing airbag

Hi

I want to change the cushion and backrest covers. I have Citroen instruction for this job-but it is not cleat enough. I removes the seat shell and start taking the seat apart. The cushion is relatively easy to change. For changing the backrest I need to detach the airbag and I am not sure how to do it. The Citroen instruction does not mention removing it. Any help is wellcome

The side airbags are rivetted in place! You will need to drill it out and must rivet it back for safety reasons.

Why not just put an airbag-compliant seat cover over the seat?

I was able to detach the airbag . It were two nuts that that secures the airbag to the seat frame

Would rivets pass the "secure fixing" test for an explosive device ? Only stripped 3 seats with airbags, always nuts on studs
