It is GREAT that you are back, Jim. Seeing you on here helps to make me feel the World, in part, is right again (especially in this time of crisis).

When you start cooking again could you please, if you have the time, copy a few of your recipes onto this thread I started? I have tasted some of your cooking, and it would be nice to try and replicate it (although, with my culinary skills, I am not sure how good my attempts will be!). Anything that is feel good cooking would be appreciated.

Glad to hear from you as always Jim, keep your chin up and have faith in yourself. Recovery from injuries like that takes an age and it will feel like you're going nowhere at times. You'll get there in the end though.

Aside from anything else you're too stubborn not to!

Not found Ventoux on Zwift yet but like all good computer games you have to work at unlocking features of it!!! For now I'm enjoying my virtual rides around London... Riding across Tower bridge is great and I've also ridden past Buck House too! Something I'd never do in real life although I have ran over Tower Bridge and ran past Buck House during the Vitality Big Half last year...

This acted as my substitute parkrun as all proper parkruns are currently suspended until further notice

I'm missing my weekly parkruns terribly and can't wait for them to start up again but sadly, that's a long way off yet.

That was hard work but in fairness I did ride the 2019 UCI World Championship course so it was never going to be easy... Good fun though

I will be happy to Mick but this morning was not misty at all

I did wonder if there may be a more appropriate place for those sort of pictures so thanks for letting me know

I'll see if I can get some misty ones in the coming days as that river is often swathed in mist...

Lovely sunrise. I don't seem many of those Jim, not up early enough. We get some lovely sunsets though - I'm, usually up by then.

I'm just the opposite Peter.... I never see a sunset!!! I'm never up that late!!!

Something very different today and right up your street too Peter...

My Leak FM tuner has had an intermittent fault in the power supply for ages... It would switch on OK, run for a bit and then die. A gentle tap anywhere on the case would make it spring back to life...

Investigations led to the discovery that gently touching one of the big blue main smoothing electrolytics would 'fix' the problem for a while...

So today, I finally got round to replacing them...

The problem remained...

I think I have now finally found it... And it looks like a manufacturing fault from 45 years ago.

The series regulator transistor - the one with a crinkly heat-sink around it - was very poorly fitted with leads barely long enough to have decent soldered joints made to the circuit board. I desoldered it, removed it and found these very short leads were quite tarnished and not amenable to being soldered.

I cleaned up the leads, straightened them to make them as long s possible, refitted and touch-wood, all now seems good.

I'll leave it upside down and uncased for a few days to see if it really is now fixed!

One thing I did discover is just how bad my eyesight has got. Oddly, at my last eye test a few months ago all was good but I've noticed a deterioration since the accident even before I called on them to do some demanding electronics. A visit to the opticians will be on the list of things to do once the lockdown is lifted...

Also, doing delicate work with ongoing nerve damage (again, from the accident) in the fingers of my left hand is not easy either.

Thank goodness my right hand is OK!

Nice neat job Jim. Potted electronics are a pain to work on but nothing ever moves and breaks.

Heard on 2m last night ' at least metrication has some benefits, I would feel a idiot calling CQ CQ 6 foot six'.

Actually, the 'm' stands for a different unit of measurement
