ESP problems after navigation upgrade C4GP

Post by vborovicfan »

Probably question for Givemebreak :) i have retrofitted rt6 navigation to basics c4gp(without navi) of course intrument cluster were diferent and i replaced internal cabling. now i get electronic handbrake and esp asr system fault. i believe its because donor wiring was automatic gearbox and somehow EPB and esp system wired diferently . i am geting codes(atached)

now when old wiring is cut my only hope is schematic diferencies i have found one here but not sure if its from automatic car. i need both manual ant automatic to compare. now I have 2 extra plugs above steerng wheel(probbely gear selector and manual gearbox change buttons) and also more 2 free plugs t the right of steering wheel which i have no clue what for. :(

The harnesses are entirely different based on options - not just for the gearbox - so you will certainly have a job here....

The ESP system controls the EPB directly, so any fault in the ESP system may cause the handbrake issues too.

As for diagrams - I see that you posted one of the diagrams I already put up on the Forum - again these will be specific for the particular vehicle and fitted equipment that it was aimed at.

I may be able to help with diagram or 2, but I will need a VIN for the donor vehicle from which the harness came from and the VIN for the vehicle you have fitted it to. But to do this I will need to lookup relevant information that the Forum is now charged for by PSA, so you'll need to make a minimum £10 donation that should cover you for 2 years for parts info. Please see the table below for info and links:
A response to your question will require detailed vehicle information that requires you to have made a current contribution to the Forum.

Hi Mark, thanks , as always friendly help, I dont post too often in forum, but read a lot and your(helping) hand in photo really makes sense, when i see your posts :) I had Sedre back in to 2015, and probably will need get it agian for this particular case. I will try to get donnor car. the wiring harness i bought PROBABLY came from diesel, automatic (or semi automatic) gearbox, advanced climae control, probbaly xenons (light lifting button wa missing but i recreated it -traced pins form my old wiing) and rt5 navi. my car is petrol, mechanic gearbox, rd45 and advancec climate control. the only reason why i changed witing that new instrument cluster have 2 conection mine had one, and all icons mooved from IC to separate two blocks(also have two extra wiring)

the wiring i changed from 6 BSI plugs goes goes to thoses critical modules- steerind wheel, airbag module(?) between front seats, also to climate control/comfort module and of course to IC and those two separate icons for check engine lights etc. there way more plugs in new harness. I was too silly and rushed to put new wiring also cut my old wiring loom BEFORE solved this ESP problems.

I having fun with this car nearly same as i was back in 2015 with c5x7. I also put new new rear electrochromic mirrow, folded rear mirrors, leather door cards with ambient lightning, sunvisors with AL as well, all8psc triple laminated acoustic glasses. a door wiring looms was changed, also some missing wires added for microphone and navigation , including rear gps antenna. this time i dod not made new wire from microphone to navigation, it seems that (at least on c4gp) microphone wiring goes to bsi and only from bsi to navigation wiring is needed. my work is harder because i have 8 amplification channels with separate amps and wiring- quite a mess when need to work.. fortnately gemoetry of c4GP is way much better for sound- I geeting beatifull sound from this car which I never was able achieve from c5x7. main reason is ability to place 10cm midranges with titanium tweeter top on those- those fits (with some dashboar cut) in front.

it looked much worse at some stages ad roof was took out as well, dashboard was out too. :D I HATE HATE HATE PSA enginiers which made main wiitng loom for whole car. if you dont have navigation you are basicaly stuck unless you disasemble whole car and change main wiring loom.

this is speakers i was able to build (its DIY) and put in place of tweeter. improvement was huge to say at least. driving year and enjoyed audiophle sound. now when head unit is changet rt6 sonic suffered a bit. i googled a bit and seems it uses some arkamys sound DSP which may improove muddy sound in c5x7 but when real high quality speakers and soundstream+ alpine amps placed I hear unnatural reverbation and pseudo echo soundstage artifacts this unit ads. sadly not sure if i can turn it off(maybe talling diagbox that system have arkamys separate amp will turn off this feature from head unit?) from my memory NG4 unit was same or nearly same sonic quality as rd45. rt6 is not natural sounding. but now its tool late. so I thinking of putting ng4 in this car. i will make custm 2 din panel and put ng4 from peugeot. I will maintian all the hazard and unlock buttons just frnt central air discribution will be abandoned. but first need to solve those esp problems..

Yep, that's pretty much a problem for others wanting to retrofit OEM kit. They have multiple harnesses now for the Engine, supplementary harnesses, the front, fascia intermediate and rear kits all differ on engine, Audio options, equaliser, gearbox, LHD / RHD etc. etc., so I do not envy your job, but hell, I would just have bought an Exclusive to begin with :rofl2:

You'll probably tell me that there isn't as many of these over there though, which I can understand.

I would gladly woudl buy exclusive, but i have very special car requirement which seems nobody other have. if only somebody at citroen would make 1.8petrol mechanical gearbox, non hydoractive suspension c5x7 exlusive or same engine C4GP exlsuive I would save thousand of euros and working hours. I seems always need to build car for myself  now I a bit regret, as probbely less muchjob would be to buy exclusive C4GP with brown leather and took out autmaci gearbox and put in mechanical also took out rear suspension anr replace it with normal. to put in navigation in non nave c5x7 takes 2 hours including wiring mic etc. to put navigation in c4 gp seems job of a week

update: all done. I had multiple ESB/ABS, AIRBAG falts with new wiring loom as it was quite diferent. some wires reworked some remooved /added and now all works. sofwtare side i hadsome bug when reseting trip bring "initializing" but not real reset, I disabled secondary screen in diagbos and it works now. I had to acquire acess to PSA schematics/diagrams in short , would not recomend this upgrade for the complexity. not even sure if i woudl want to reapeat that :D
