Re: Mick's Motoring March Meander - Postponed!!!

Post by mickthemaverick »

It is with some dismay that I have to declare the postponement of my trip. A number of occurrencies have conspired to bring about the postponement:
1) The serious flooding in the severn valley means I would not want to be viewed as a "rubber necker".
2) The coronavirus situation at the moment.
3) An unexpected expenditure demand for the C5 suspension bushes, engine mounting and iolys fluid refill.
4) My mate, who was meant to have been coming on the Spain trip I have just done, would like to come on the trip but cannot make the planned dates.

Put together, these issues add up to a postponement being the only sensible thing to do. The only thing I can say is that the trip will happen in the next few months but whether it becomes an April Amble, a May Meander or a June Jog we'll have to see! Watch this space. :( :( :( :)

Thanks Neil, I am looking forward to that and one advantage of the postponement is the likely improvement in the weather and the longer daylight hours which will in turn give more time for lunch!! :-D

When you do decide on a date could you add the dates to the spreadsheet so we know what Day 1, Day 2, etc actually relate to?

Mick, as your intended Meander was about to start on Monday, and you have the route/points of interest mapped out, and we have access to streetview/geograph/wiki plus the odd original image in our archives a virtual MIck's march meander could still take place :-D

I am sure I have a picture of Corned Beef Pie Peas and mash and gravy somewhere for a virtual Drift Inn lunch on Tuesday :-D

Great idea Neil!! I'm due to leave here at 07.00 on Monday and I will endeavour to keep the thread up to date with progress. Hopefully I will get enough time out of the Vcar to post lunchtimes and evenings but I will need help with some of my sightings as my virtual camera cannot be relied upon. Watch this space!! :)

Just in case you select your Vcar as a Nissan Leaf 24kWh first stop would have to be at the Holiday Inn Express at Colchester :-D based on conservative 50 mile chunks.

A functional but not particularly exciting or scenic location for a recharge. :-D

Well the trip hasn't got off to the best start because I received an email this morning to tell me that SWMBO has had her return flights cancelled by Royal Brunai and the only alternative she has found is with Thai airlines and they want passengers to have virus free certificates which she cannot get in Australia so she may be stranded for months!!
That is a watch this space but it has delayed me in my leaving.
The first leg will take me along the A414. Up the A10 and then east along the A120, past Braintree and onto the A12. I will then head Northeast up the A12, round Ipswich and on up to Westleton.
As for the Vcar I have selected my C5 with a 1000kwh electric conversion powered by Kryptonite batteries kept in the glovebox. What's the point in having a Vcar if I can't have a bit of latitude in design? :-D
So the Colchester recharge won't be necessary but I may stop there for a coffee! :-D
See you in Westleton!

No range anxiety in the Vcar then Mick, but you would miss out on the next charging stop which would be a lot more interesting than the Holiday Inn Express. It would have to have been at Lilys Cafe on the A12 not more than 4 miles from Westleton :-D

Looks like you could get a decent "cup of splosh" and a fry up while waiting!

Have you had any refreshment yet Mick?

Did you catch a glimpse of this as you motored past Bury St edmunds?

The news about SWMBO this morning put me off my breakfast and Lily's was in lockdown so I'm hoping to grab something in King's Lynn market! :)
