2005 Dispatch horn
2005 Dispatch, VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff], I think it's 1.9D, horn has gone nonfunctional.
I changed the indicator stalk recently which has the horn button on the tip. After changing the stalk, everything including the horn worked fine.
It's now maybe a month or so since changing the stalk & the horn suddenly stopped working.
Had a little look under the bonnet but can't see where the horn is.. can anyone tell me so I can check the connections?
Also.. is there an accessible fuse and relay, or is the relay built into the electrics box?
Thanks for any info.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Citroën seem to like to hide their horns away, somewhere low down - so behind the bumper might be a good starting place.
Horns rarely have their own fuse, so if everything else is working that's not likely to be the problem - & I doubt that there's a relay. Dirty/loose terminals are usual suspects, so 1st find your horn.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Having had the bumper off mine this weekend, my 2010 model's horn is under the RH headlight.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Very hard to see without actually removing the bumper, but peering through the gaps & looking for clues such as likely looking bits of wiring loom, couldn't see anything looking like a horn or horn wiring behind the bumper. Bumper could definitely be hiding something though.. bearing that in mind..
I did find a horn in front of the passenger side front wheel though, bolted to a metal strut going across from the chassis to the bumper. Don't know if this is some kind of aftermarket / alarm thing or if it's the main horn

I can't tell you exactly where it is, but this is what it should look like for your vehicle:

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Or behind wheel-arch liner? Just guessing.
Would 'third page' of wiring diagram give a clue to location?

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Mines shows it behind the bumper under the N/S headlamp.
Item(s) 2521 & 2522 depending on whether it is a single or twin horn model.
Sorry had to upload a pic of the screen as im not sure how to upload wiring diagrams.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
If either horn is actually dead, they are common enough: make is Mixo (made in France), TR99. If in a pair, one should be high note (alto), t'other low note (basso). Plenty of them on the web.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
I wonder if the wheel arch liner is actually missing on my mate's van. Looking forward of the front wheel I can see right the way through to parts of the metal chassis, and parts of the plastic front bumper.
What's 13 AVERT/S on that diagram? that wire looks in exactly the position the horn I can see, is.
GiveMeABreak - the horn I can see looks pretty much identical to the pic you posted
Soon as Paul gets back with the van I'll get the screwdriver out, open up the connector & get the multimeter on it to see if pressing the button sends 12V to it.
Did find a wiring diagram, looks like it's fuse 17 in the glovebox 20A. Checked that, it's ok. Wiring diagram seems to indicate no relay, just power straight from the battery via the pushswitch.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Couldn't open the connector for love nor money. Ended up snipping the wires.
Found 12V alive and well on the 2 green wires coming out the loom, when button pressed. 0V when released.
So I guess it must be the right horn after all. Will order a new Mixo TR99 then..
Thanks for the help.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
AVERT/S is just the harness number, it looks like this harness is only present on twin horn models, it just looks like a small harness that splits the single connector into 2.
Yes its fuse 17 supplies the switch & the switch send the powe to the horn via a 34 way multiplug under the interior fusebox. No relay invloved. The earth for the horn is MC10 on that pic.

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
The Mixo horns are labelled Alto or Basso, so make sure you buy the correct one, if replacing.
They only sound decent with one of each!

Re: 2005 Dispatch horn
Are you sure they're Mixo? 'cos my C15's Hella (although, of course, being an older model it may have an older horn) - not that it really matters, as all horns are pretty well interchangeable.
