Citroen berlingo 2.0 hdi possible fuel pump issue or electrical

Post by Callump227 »

So I've had my berlingo for a few years now but it's been in the family from new and I think its great vehicle I service it every 6k and I do about 20k a year in it, but it's had an ongoing problem for the last few months that's getting progressively worse and is now affecting me, when it's been raining it just won't start, it turns over but won't fire and I've tried towing it/bumping it and it still won't go, but when it's dry it generally works fine although I believe it has happened once. Also it may be unrelated as this definitely only happens when it's raining but when cruising on the motorway at 70 or so if I take my my foot off the accelerator for a second and go back I have no power for a few moments by which time due to engine braking the car is doing 40-50 and I have to accelerate all the way back up. Any advice? Thanks

Hi Callum (?). The best thing to do is to get it read and see if there are any fault codes coming up that might be an indication of an issue. If you can get any of those and post them up we might be able to give some pointers.

At this stage it's going to be guessing and that can be expensive - so no point in replacing parts until you have reason to do so. The obvious checks would be to check the condition of the earthing points, cables and electrical connections - especially around the engine fuse box to make sure there is no water ingress / damage / corrosion around the sensitive areas.

Callum - put your VIN up so I can tie these codes into the specific engine management system you have.
