Changing these us a bit of a donkey as the rear bolt comes out upwards, but it is right under the drive shaft, so the shaft needs to come out...

Re: Grand Picasso front suspension help please
Hi All
I need to get the two front tyres replaced for the ITV (Spanish MOT) but I think that this clunk/bolt thing is possibly connected to the tracking?
I spoke to a local garage and it seemed not be a problem (they can easily ramp the car up and so should be able to get to it easily) and then they told me it would be a 3 day job... and could not give me a price.
We can´t be without a car for 3 days... (not that it takes that long to remove a broken bolt...) I have extraction tools and am capable enough to do the job, but would want to have the replacement bolt beforehand. Whilst it might involve me scrabbling around on the floor it will certainly NOT involve a (ahem) "3 day bill"
When the bolt was originally pointed out to me, I know that it is on the right hand front and that the bolt is pointing upwards so my supposition is that this is the only bolt pointing upwards from looking at the diagrams..
Could you possibly let me know the part number please?
And also could you possibly let me know if when I remove the old bolt am I going to find myself struggling to align the parts again? I have a smallish trolley jack and two axle stands so I know I will be under the car...
Sorry to be a pain had resigned myself to the age of paying people to do some of the tricky stuff now, but we can´t afford to be ripped off by a garage for a job, that theoretically should be done in a couple of hours. My tyre place said that they didn´t do that type of repair.
Hopefully you guys can help.
Have a great day.

I have a broken bolt, which I think is the one numbered as 5 in the diagram. The end with the hex bolt is out and the broken end of the bolt is still in the hole. We get a clunk on extreme lock and our tracking is out. We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or vehicle factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 3 years, so excellent value.

Re: Grand Picasso front suspension help please
Hi Again
I have had my front tyres changed and managed to get in and find the damaged bolt. There is a picture attached (I did do a video but it is just over 20MB and so I can´t upload it) I think that the pic is clear enough anyway.
I think that if I remove the splash/mud guard/engine protector.. whatever you call it I should be able to get underneath to extract the bolt.
Option 1 is that I can use an extraction kit to remove the bolt from the bottom of the hole, but I am just thinking of whether I have a long enough and small enough drill bit to get to the bottom of the broken bolt!?!
Option 2 is it feasible to use mole grips to gradually continue to grip and then extract the broken part bit by bit upwards?
As it is only one side of the anti-roll bar that nothing should significantly move when I change it and once replaced I can get my tracking done.
That is my cunning plan
If you know the part number for me please that would be great, thank you.
Have a great day.

Re: Grand Picasso front suspension help please
Stick the VIN up (it will auto hide) so that we can look up the right part number. It might come out upwards, but that will depend on it being threaded all the way down to where it broke, and there not being a bit sticking out the side on the end where the thread broke off. Depending on where the bottom end is, welding a nut on it so that you can wind it out might be best.

Re: Grand Picasso front suspension help please
Hi
Can´t find the draft (wherever it has gone)
Vin: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Possibly could come up, hadn´t considered that the thread might not go all the way down! The bit of bolt that was waggled at me (2 years ago) may or may not have had thread over the length... see what the part no throws up:
If not it was long enough that I am fairly sure I will have to drill up into the hole if I am using the extraction tool.
Thanks for your help so far.

Re: Grand Picasso front suspension help please
Sorry, I mopped up a load of requests yesterday, forgot about this one!
The configuration is different to the above picture on a MK2:
This is the view from the front, I think you are looking at item 4:
04
96 760 047 80 (original part number)
RP 98 331 422 80 (replacing part number)
02
01
FRONT ANTI-ROLL SCEW LINK
Item 3 it calls:
03
98 028 390 80 (original part number)
RP 98 331 424 80 (replacing part number)
02
01
ANTI-ROLL BAR SUPPORT
UK prices
Item 3 - £18.85
Item 4 - £10.66
Unfortunately doesn't give the size of the bolt at 4.
