407 heat exchanger
Evening all, I was about to do a bit of AM6 preventative maintenance and noticed a leak from the 'heat exchanger' under the drivers side. I can't find it in the BOLs or on servicebox. The water leak is from the front edge, I've not removed the cover to see where exactly. Is this a known issue and can anyone point in the right direction regarding parts diagrams.
Cheers
Cheers

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Which heat exchanger is leaking exactly? Could you get a pic of it?

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Ok, so best to do a clean and watch session to identify leak and then let me know which are the suspect zones from either of the 2 diagrams:
These are the Coolant Leak Zones for the Engine Circuit:

This one is horizontal and lies under the floor pan behind the engine on the drivers side. I'll get a photo tomorrow

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Are you sure that's not the water evacuation drain pipe from the Air Conditioning Evaporator?

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Is it diesel? These have a fuel cooler under the floor that fits your description. Air cooled though, so no water...

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Yes it is Richard, and having cross checked your comment with the BOLs, yes, it is the fuel cooler that I was looking at thanks for clearing that up. Looks like a radiator on the back of a fridge.
So if the AC drain is near the front of this, that is the 'leak'? I can't find reference to it to confirm. I really hope your right Marc.
I can't get under it today due to the lovely French rain, but I don't think it's necessary now.

Re: 407 heat exchanger
AC drain, item 8
This view is from the front of the car, so the drain appears to exit on the RHS - I assume yours is LHD so it should be on the passenger side somewhere. However, that's not to say it's not running across the subframe and dripping off a low point somewhere. I would check that it's not diesel leaking, however.... but having said that these coolers rarely give trouble.

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Thanks very much Richard. Mines a RHD the the positioning would be correct. I held my hand under the drips when I saw them, give them a smell test, definitely water. That puts my mind at rest.
Thanks again to both of you.

Re: 407 heat exchanger
There shouldn't be any difference in these for LHD or RHD - the heating units are the same for both.

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Indeed, Marc, but it would vary whether the drain was driver or passenger side!!

Re: 407 heat exchanger
Well it's a flexible hose so can easily be moved by somebody / past mechanic?, but the parts are in the same place and there's no different versions for either model, which was my point really.
